Electrical Question

I stopped @ a yard sale today and bought a Light Fixture ..about 3 years old ... Pretty decent shape, so I ran back home n grabbed two Phillips led tubes I have been running in my veg room And tested the light at this yard sale... It Worked good... So I go to home depot n grab 2 more led tubes ..same exact kind and when I turned it on it worked for 60 seconds and POP ..light ain't working... This light fixture is a" Shop Light Plus" 49" long .. Its ideally made for T8 or T12 Fluorescent... My question is what blew? And Why? It was kinda loud pop... A fuse or the ballast?

I found the reviews of these lights online and some say they suck and the ballast can't be replaced.

OK which tubes exactly? I'm assuming they were drop in type T8 replacements ones and not the kind you need to bypass the ballast. And the ballast can almost definitely be replaced.

Almost definite  LOL

Hes prolly right, I retrofit a lot of LED lights from CFL's in my job, and you have to cut the ballast out of the system pretty much every time... (by that I mean, every time I have ever seen, but I wont say EVERY time, just in case some mutant bulbs exist)

Here's the thing, bulbs like that work with "most" ballasts. According to NewEgg:
"Compatible with most electronic instant-start T8 ballasts as well as some program-start T8 ballasts"

You probably blew the ballast. Maybe the starter if there is one but they don't usually pop in my experience. Have you tried flouro T8s in it to see if they light up?

If it's meant for T12s that could also be some kind of incompatibility there. Philips does make a T12 and a T8 InstaFit.

This is the T 8 tube ... I just tried a 40 watt fluorescent and its not working. I think the light is shot, it only cost 4$ bit the bulbs were 11$ each.

Can InstaFit bypass the fixture's ballast? Can you run it off straight AC? Otherwise you'll have to buy a new ballast or fixture.

Bought new fixture from Menard's this morning.. Popped the same tubes in and plugged it in... Ran great for 45 seconds and this time it wasn't a loud pop... It was more like an egg timer sound ... I think this fixture is shot now too.. Could these led tubes be defective or faulty?

Possible, maybe there is some kind of AC to DC converter in the tube and it's failed. A few companies have had recalls on T8 LEDs, CREE was one and I think Philips too. If flouro bulbs work in the fixture then it's something with the bulbs I would think.
