Effect Report questionnaire

I'm developing an Effect Report questionnaire and I'm going to keep a data base of that info, I'll put it up on a web site when I get it done. I'm looking for all the info to tell us what's going to happen once we take the first hit and on, where most of the info on seebank websites covers growing information and how jimmy joe jim bob found the magic beans. I'm just picking at it now, haven't done much but here's what I've got so far.

.
Spectrums of Experience

1. Onset: fast effect or creeper.
creeper 1 2 3 4 5 fast

2. Up (stimulating) and Down (sedative)
Liven the disposition and stimulate the emotions:
Inspiring sociability and talkativeness:
Sedative and depressant effects:

3. Head High / Body Stone
Energizing
Motivating
Couch lock

4. Emotional State Caused

Anxiety
Euphoria
Calm
paranoia

5. Body - medicinal effects

Nausea
Pain
Seizures
Back
etc

6. Head - medicinal effects
Depression
Mania
Anxiety
Antisocial
Anger

7. Ceiling: How high (of far) one is capable of going with the variety. How many hits can be consumed until more hits are unnoticeable.

8. Potency: weak 1 2 3 4 5 strong

9. Duration
short 1 2 3 4 5 long

10. Tolerance:
ability to provide the same experience via the same amount over time – the burnout factor. "Over time" means the long run: months, years, decades...

11. Taste

The first spectrum to consider is the "up and down". "Up" refers to the stimulating aspects of cannabis, while "down" refers to sedative qualities. Up pot tends to liven the disposition and stimulate the emotions, inspiring sociability and talkativeness. Down pot tends to produce sedative and depressant effects. Some people refer to stimulating pot as being a "head" high and sedative pot as being a "body" high, yet although partially true this is also misleading.

Body and head highs are the next spectrum of the cannabis experience. Generally speaking, head highs are stimulating and body highs are sedative, but not all are. Some body highs are stimulating and some head highs are depressing. I once sampled a terribly paranoia-inducing head pot that inspired great couch lock qualities. I called it Boo-Goo.

Early to late harvest will affect the head to body spectrum expressed by a certain plant, with the later harvest tending to produce more body and sedative effects. However, I believe that certain aspects of this spectrum to be genetically inherited.

Next to consider are aspects of duration. Some cannabis tends to be short-acting (15-30min) whereas other varieties last much longer (6-7 hours). Once again production, harvesting and curing techniques can influence aspects of this spectrum, but much of this effect is inherited.

For me, the most important aspect of the cannabis experience to consider is tolerance. This refers to the product's ability to provide the same experience via the same amount over time – the burnout factor. By "over time" I mean the long run: months, years, decades...

Most of the cannabis I see on the market today has a terrible tolerance factor – a quick burnout time with the product's novelty lasting less than a week. Luther Burbank's model of breeding needs to be employed here and no expression of tolerance to your product is to be tolerated. An example of where intolerance to tolerance is tolerated – enough already!

Another aspect of tolerance is "ceiling." This refers to how high (or far) one is capable of going with the variety. How many hits can you consume until more hits are unnoticeable? Most indicas have a low ceiling of less than 10 hits. For me that's usually around 5 hits in one smoking session. If I smoke more than 5 hits of a strong indica I will either not notice the post-ceiling hits, or I will fall asleep.

Some sativas have a very high ceiling, or seem to have none at all! This means that the more you consume, the higher and further you go. Oaxaca Highland Gold, Black Magic African, and Highland Thai were some of the herbs I've tried with very high or no ceiling.

The final aspect of mental effects to consider when sampling strains for breeding is the tendency to produce anxiety. Certain strains of cannabis increase anxiety while others decrease it. This is also true for other emotions, which some strains may suppress while others may augment their intensity. Generally stimulating and head varieties are the ones that can produce unwanted anxiety, but this is not always the case. Quickly cured buds or an over-early harvest are contributing factors to anxiety-increasing pot, but this trait is also genetic in nature.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd like to suggest a question about munchies. For fat guys like me, munchies are a bad thing. But for some med users it is very important. Otherwise, it's an excellent template. Just my .02

That is something I overlooked, good thinking Howard! I've always figured squirting plumb sauce on mustard sardines at 2:00 AM was just a normal snack, but maybe there's some kind of ulterior force at work.

Howard what kind of question(s) do you think should be asked? Just a rating on how hungry it makes you or some type of parallel scale on the disgusting types of food we'd gorge on while stoned.

Damn good suggestion.

.

"Some of the questions seem to be somewhat redundant, or at the least overlapping."

Could you give one or two examples Andre, then I'll use that insight to go over the rest of the questionaire.

There's going to be additions, removals and changes to a lot of the catagories - in the end I'd like a report that will give the average Head to the most critical med patient the info they need to pick a strain for their needs.

.

Keep 'em comming, I'll change the survey and repost once I hear from Howard and Andre.

ps I was at a forum that didn't support bongsmilies. It wasn't pretty, I couldn't stay and I won't be going back. (sob)

Just a simple 1-5 rating system of how hungry it makes you would be sufficient for me. Let me know when you get your site up and running, I'd like to check it out.

Hobbes, R U going to have a site!? you're 1 of the most helpful here I think, so i'm plus repping and watching for your site. Thanks for all the help so far.

p.s. breeding any Big Laughing? I wanna try it but can't afford Dr. Greenthumb.

Mr. HWC, how long on the Satori? Can't wait to hear and get my hand on that one!:hump:

You got it, thanks for the help. :)

I changed her to 12/12 on 4/22 so I figure late june/early july. I can't comment on the smoke yet, but they grow quicker than anything else I've ever grown. Very distinct smell, even during veg. I can't wait. :weed:

Hobbes, another thought popped into my head today. How about a question about the comedown as the stone wears off? Some weed gets me tired, some edgy and high strung, and the great ones are just a gentle comedown over the course of a few hours. Maybe it could be phrased a bit better, but I think you get the idea.

"Hobbes, R U going to have a site!?"

I'd rather put it on this forum where more people will use it, but if I can't get it put up on a forum I'll find a free website service that allows marijuana related information.

"breeding any Big Laughing?"

Never without! I've got an 18" plant in pro mix and a 19" plant in RDWC ready to harvest in a few days - the Pro Mix buds are soft like a sponge, one main cola per branch and the stem; the RDWC buds are hard as rock and a good size, not just covered, it seems layers of trichnomes. The fan leaves are mostly purple on the RDWC, Pro Mix may take another week. I've got a 16" Pro Mix plant ready to go into flower today and a mother and 5 clones in pro mix in the veg room. Great strain.

"I wanna try it but can't afford Dr. Greenthumb."

Dave, the owner of Pick n Mix, has been on this forum several times asking for suggestions of breeders to pick up - I've suggested the Doc several times, Dave said he's looking into it. May never come through but I think Greenthumbs amazing and amazingly expensive strains would be very popular with single seed buyers, some good fem strains too.

Pinkus if you, or anyone else, want Pick n Mix to pick up Dr Greenthumb give Dave an email and put a bug in his ear. If enough people want this relatively obscure breeder Dave will most likely work to pick him up.

You're cooking with gas Howard!

How would you phrase it?

--
Come Down - Please rate the effects on the body and mind as the cannaboid effect wears off.

Smooth Come Down (1 2 3 4 5)
Tired (1 2 3 4 5)
Edgy (1 2 3 4 5)
High Strung (1 2 3 4 5)
Parranoid (1 2 3 4 5)
Duration (15 min, 30, 60, 90, 120, etc)
***If there are changes in comedown effects over time I'd like to split this into the duration of each phase.

What other effects happen during come down?

I think that covers it pretty well. I've got a semi-offtopic question for you as well. How do your peakseedsbc harvests compare to some of your other strains in terms of potency? I came real close to ordering from them a few months ago, and I'm still wondering if maybe I should have gone with them instead of GH.

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work. Your posts are always helpful and informative.

I didn't find them that potent, but I don't find any of the strains I've been trying lately potent - my tolerance is so high I could vaporize the bud I've got now from dawn til dusk and never feel high, and that includes some Bubblegum that makes my pothead friends float away. I kept mothers for their Northern Lights and Skunkberry, I'm going to grow them again in the fall to see if I can improve on potency.

My PeakSeedBC plants were as healthy and vigorous as my Serious Bubblegum and Kali Mist (first grow, in flower), and that's high praise. Short thick plants with good size nugget buds, high bag appeal.

If you're looking for potency take a look at the small group of "clone only" breeders like Elite and Reservoir, and I don't know where Sub Cool fits in but he's growing potent strains for medical patients and has the respect of everyone I see posting about him. I've got Sub Cool, BOG, DJ Short on the list of breeders I want strains from (growing Elite and have Reservoir in the mail).

Have you ever smoked kali before? I'd love to see a smoke report from you once you harvest. I also have a problem with building up a tolerance pretty quickly, so I'm really interested to see if you have that problem with this strain.

Thanks for the info. +rep

"Have you ever smoked kali before?"

No, I've got another 4 to 6 weeks to wait for that delight. From what I've read Kali Mist should cut through our tolerance, but proof is in the pudding.

I read a blurb by Big Bhudda last year, they said that some of their staff smoke nothing but BB Cheese for 3 years and they still got as high each day as on the first day. I've got a fem seed from Pick n Mix and I can't wait to try some Cheese.
