Just got an ebb system in. A hd mortar tray. I am using 1.5 inch cubes inside larger 4x4x4 cubes. The cubes are still aturated with water. I have no idea how dry to let them go. I watered them every 24 hours and thatwas 2 much. At leat after their intila dunking. I notice more growth as they get drier. How dry should they be. How heavy. The bottom third is havey and the upper protion is moist slightly. Thank you. :joint:

I have pretty much read everything on the net now about rw. Over these weeks. Still barely a rough consensus. All pver the charts. I gather light green and droopy too much water. Some go 4x a day, some once a week. SOme stay in the 4 ich cubes and put then in 4.x inch pots for huge plants, some use slabs.
I ust flooded/ i gonna wait i think 12 hours see whats up, I tink i still on the verge of over water from the insertion. I was hasty.
Howver if you could tell me how et your cubes stay i would appreciate it. Thats hard to fig out. Are they completlety saturated at all times. Really? That;s what is so hard for me to believe.
I kniow that fully water rw has a 20 percent oxygen ratio still. I also know that as it drains it pulls more in. I also know that leavign ti too underwatered leaves too many nutes in the rw for roots good. Talking burn and ph probs in the rootzone. I also know that you can overwater it. I saw drooping leaves, slow gorwth, and light green. My ph a big deal, lol, i got down it every time and i using strips. arrrr/ SO i f any oen can clarify is the rw always aturated is or is yours drying in beween waterings. Thats where i am confused, it is such a clean medium and intersting. I wanna master it. ty in advance and so far!!!

It just depends on how much they drink per day. You'll have to increase the watering frequency as they get bigger and drink more but for now 1 time a day is ideal and if they are being over-watered you'll have to raise the EC of the nute solution.

Oh you're using a cement mixing board? Is there a small layer/pool of water from where the drain fitting sits on the surface? You gotta make sure the rockwool is able to drain freely so you should set the rw block on some pre-rinsed lava rock or gravel.

i dotn know if you know but 4x4x4 cubes comes with grooves a half inch deep on the bottom and my tray seems ok woth drainage. ty tho. Raise the ec? U mean increase nuteif water less or to cure overwater. ? interesting. Ive got it around 800 or so flora nova. I guess i gotta be careful if the nut salts dont overtake the roots as the cube dries if they cant absorb that much. They havy and take days to get lighter. I flooded the 1.5 cubes every 2 hours and they floursihed. These big cubes dry out slo with the bottom slowly draiing, not really evaproting

Yeah man I know about the ridges, but if you want to blow it off then it's not my problem. Just water them whenever they need it.

nah i hear you, its not a rob yet. I was worried about it so i ordered some 5.25 inch pots and am going to put the cubes in there with little rw cubes. Then by then my 3x3 tray should be here. Beleive me that was my biggest concern when going with a mortar tray for now. I had it on hand and heard it worked. It works a little better than i thought but i a nub, but still i worried. I thought i had it all down from all the reading i did bit probs arise/ regrettably they all ways seem 2. Also i seem to only learn by doing and so ha, hear i am with stupid water wuestions on rw. Oh well, also mostly over tweeking my grow could crop up, i gotta wait now to let them dry a little i think. I still dont know why higher ec would help with the overwater but i lookking and guessing:) no offense dude.
