Ebb & Gro Questions?

This thread is for anyone that is using the Custom Automated Products Ebb &Gro bucket system. Anything related to the use and upkeep of this system is greatly needed here.

I'm in my first cycle using this system and I am discovering some little details that can make a world of difference in the survival of a crop. First I have had to replace many of the grommets to a better quality product than the ones that the system came with. Then I noticed that the system came with two different kinds of buckets. One of which the plants were drowning in because of poor draining. The other bucket has perfectly healthy plants living in it due to a recess that was designed into the bottom of the bucket. To overcome that, I elevated all the buckets to create a better drain for the buckets that don't have the recess in the bottom.
My growing medium is 80/20 coco/hydroton. I'm not satisfied with the draining of this 80/20 mix. I'm thinking of just using straight hydroton next cycle. Or maybe a 50/50 coco/hydroton mix. Anyone have any input?
