Are you still planning on building and selling grow lights using the Bridgelux strips, or did you decide to go in another direction?

Yeah exactly

I been doing some fluence looking bars with little success but that's why I'm interested in what people think of these eBay seller types.

Ther is another one

Similar type of budget diy style but not assembled

Anyways in all cases it's using these panels with not much spread

Wondering how ppl feel about this type of thing

But wait theres more................ 500w $625 AUD

I know U are trolling but I'll engage anyways

So this is a really good price for a qb It's actually 420w

So two of those X wing lookin lights would get U 560w and cost About the same

epistar 660??, the money in these boards always relates to the deep red, the white chips are cheap relative to deep red, so if you use cheap deep red, it brings the whole unit cost down, what do you get with cheap deep red....... PPP(piss poor performance)
Good spot I see it now
So this is a fake HLG? Surely the real QB uses samsung reds ?

What's the story with eBay sellers doing diy lights?

I saw this one and don't know what to make of it

Looks pretty good
Price seems nice and the international shipping from Australia isn't bad either

Am I missing something?

Thats actually an interesting build. If the connector glands were not in the way and the arms or body had slots, then the width of the fixture and spread of light could be adjusted.

I do not follow cost of living in Oz so cannot tell if hes asking fair price for his labour. But think if you are handy with tools you could get a driver and 8 of those bridgelux gen3 slims plus some kind of aluminium to mount it on for quite a bit less.

I cant speak for HLG, I noted they have used Osram on their early boards and then used Samsung on the Diablo, we currently use Cree XPG-3 which is the best led in deep red right now

Those strips are being pushed HARD. They are 13.4 watts at test current and 28.3w max. 280w divided by 8 strips = 35w per strip! That will reduce efficiency and lifespan.
