sex is determined when it's still in the seed lol... there is no way to increase your chances people believing that there's a way to INCREASE chances should read a little more!

I have read a little more, in fact, I have read a lot more! And what my research has shown, is that a seed's sex is not "pre-determined" - rather it is "pre-disposed". What that means is - "pre-determined" is a condition where the choice (to be male or female) has already been, incontrovertably, made. In other words "THIS SEED WILL PRODUCE A FEMALE PLANT (barring only the most drastic of events)".

On the other hand, "pre-disposed" is a condition where the outcome is, simply, "more likely" to be one way; as opposed to the other. A "pre-disposed" seed is very likely to be influenced (as to it's male-female outcome) by environmental factors.

Some seeds are more easily influenced, while others are more "stubborn". This is precisely why I don't try to influence the outcome of seeds. I want a "stubborn" female - not one that was easily influenced to change teams. I beleive that a seed that is easily influenced in this mannor is much more likely to turn "Hermie" with little provocation.

Unless the basic Botany that explains all this has dramatically changed within the last decade, or so, (I really doubt that); then I will continue to believe that a seeds outcome can, indeed, be influenced (if one really wants to).

I disagree with your opinion but I'll fight for your right to say it.

i agree that the seed is determined by outside factors, however contravercial..however it is a thing that can not be proven or disproven...what i mean is people will believe what they choose and even popping a thousand seeds wont prove or disprove the point as with a thousand seeds even in a female friendly enviroment your going to get some males.. with that said, even a 2% male outcome in a female friendly room, those who believe the seeds are pre determined will say thats the case wile those of us who believe seeds are pre disposed will be convinced the seeds where prompted by the enviroment thats y there were few males..
i believe seeds are influenced, but can not prove this!! nobody can prove it!! however i believe we can all agree in a good enviroment if u plant 10 or 100 seeds off a single plant at least 70-80% will be female... as i said even if seeds were predetermined 1 mother will produce more female seeds than male seeds,,its pro creation, and 1 male can pollinate lots of females, so that is my reasoning that more female seeds would be created...

as for proof,,,ive planted hundreds of seeds in my time, most times planting a ten pack at a time and have never gotten more males than females in a pack,....,even in male friendly rooms...??

i usually always pop 10 packs ive bought because if i buy f1 seeds i like to find the best male and female and cross, plant, then back cross 3-4 times to get stabilized hybrids...i prfer stabilized over f1's because the plants are uniform pluss i can cross them with other stabilized seeds to create my very own f1's...with stabilized seeds there is no guess work, i know how they will perform, how they will grow, stretch,produce,etc...

I believe seeds have a pre-determined gender that can't be influenced in most cases, but I wouldn't argue that some environments could influence the gender at times, but not normally.

I ran a small experiment with 3 seeds in a female friendly room and 3 in a non-friendly environment...link below

since the numbers were small, the experiment was inconclusive but since the 3 in the non-friendly room became females and only 2 of 3 in the friendly room became female tells me that environment has little influence on gender.

I will say that a good environment will produce bigger healthier plants of either genders...so at the end of the day the environment is important

It is interesting to note that some fish and some frogs can change sex due to environmental influences. I tried to get more females with 16 hours of light, 70 degree F temps, and got overwhelmingly more females. 9 out of 11, 8 out of 10, and 8 out of 10. Reading about genotype and phenotype and hearing other people talk, it would seem that we can influence gender. Pretty interesting that a plant can develop opposite sex organs because of environmental stress. I don't like so many "beliefs" in a discussion, but just thought I would put up my own little experience and thoughts on the subject. Another thing to think about is so many humans claiming to really be the opposite sex despite the sex organs they are born with. Genotype and phenotype? Really would be curious to hear from people that grow out hundreds of seeds at a time or that have made multiple attempts at influencing sex. I still can't say for sure, but I will continue trying influence gender at least through the 4th node as that is apparently the point when the plant is commited to it's expression.

but that makes them animals A-sexual diffrent from plants all tho such a great look at it
