Earth Juice Just For Coir- Pay for a Quart Get a Gallon

I use the first recipe. By finicky I mean that at least with hydro if you are off a bit the plant shows exaggerated responses and I hear over and over again how sativas are sensitive to nitrogen and are light feeders. I have successful grown Nevilles Haze and Destroyer but always in coco with liquid nutes and not even organic liquid nutes.
Here is what I am trying now from KIS Organics. It is my first run with it so the jury is still out. I added my own castings, promix.

No I don't layer the super soil. Just mix it up in a big pile, wet it down, and let it set for a couple of months in Rubbermaid trash barrels. Then I just put it in 18 gal tubs I use for grow pots. Since then I have made a 55 gallon drum tumbler for mixing. I have to make things easier on myself now. Since having 2 heart attacks and picking up colon cancer I have to let more of the smaller things go. That's one of the reasons a water only soil will really help save my energy for the things that still count. I have even giving up hand watering and have installed blumats not to mention they can will water according to each pot's needs.

Sorry about the double picture post, I got confused.

sorry man, didn't see your response.
so what I've found via experience is that sativas actually tend to like more nitrogen than indicas, they stretch waaay more, and typically don't stop growing throughout, and alllll that "green" growth is needing nitrogen, however, the caveat being they like SLOW release nitrogen, in smaller amounts, sounds weird, but let me explain, for a organic water only mix you want SMALL amounts of nearly all nutrients to be available over the course of time, and that can be tricky when you are sourcing nutrients.
for sativa a reaaaally good amendment is cow manure, preferably dairy as it's considerably lower than steer manure in it's sodium content.
but a mix that is predicated on mostly slow release forms of fairly light amendments is what i'd use for sativas.
in my experience the "finicky" parts of sativas are moreso because of the inability to replicate equatorial lights/flowering seasons
but they like more nitrogen than indicas typically do, just at lighter amounts, make sense?
more amounts of overall nitrogen in the soil than indicas is a better way to say it, you just don't want that all to be bioavailable too quickly, like bloodmeal for example, too much available at once and it's too much, that's what sativas don't like, but overall the soil has to contain much more nitrogen than an indica would simply because of the stretch/continual growth and longer flowering times.
examples of slow release nutrients are hoof and horn meal, doghair/human hair, feather meal (does have arsenic in it though) and to a degree crab meal is also
reason I suggest manure is that it's extremely slowly released, has a good amount of even macros and turns to humus after it's used.

Hello Greasemonkeymann,
Yes I understand. It is more like snacking all day as opposed to sitting down and having a full meal. In the long run you end up eating more (nitrogen) without having to eat a bunch at once. Same thing you do with really sandy soils.

So would the Vic High recipe I have been using work if I substituted the blood meal for cow manure and maybe upped the amount going in? I usually only mix up enough to go with a 2.2 cf bale at a time so not increase the amount too much I think.

I am also still waiting to see how the KIS soil grow is going to turn out too. I have lemon skunk by DNA, Cotton Candy by Delicious seeds, Cream Caramel by Sweet Seeds, and SK #1 by Dutch Passion flowering in it right now. I figured it was a wide enough flavor palate that if the soil is going to play a part in increasing the terpene profiles in the plants the run should give me some pretty interesting tastes.

Thank you for the information and I will put it to use. I figure the Zamaldelica will be about the best example I can use to see how the manure is going to work.

Since I have your attention there is one question I would like to ask regarding RO water and super soil. Using the KIS soil recipe I posted above, if I use RO water would I still have to plan on adding Calcium if the soil is suppose to have plenty already in it? I realize with out knowing the actual amounts used giving an exact answer is impossible.
On the other hand, I found a counter top RO system that has a re-mineralization filter on it that adds Calcium back in among 58 minerals.

shit, sorry again man
if you want to hit the "reply" part on what I post and it'll inform me that you asked me a question.
so that nutrient pack has a good amount of calcium in it already, so i'd say you'd probably be alright, but I also don't use RO water, so I can't say from experience on what exactly you should do, but nearly all the ingredients there have calcium in it already and a good amount too
as far as the cow manure replacing the bloodmeal, that may be a lil more tricky, as they are fairly different.
bloodmeal is nearly all nitrogen, and somewhat fairly soluble, wheras the manure is much more balanced in it's macro value and also pretty slow in it's release rate
manure is more a broad almost single-ingredient-grow type of thing
the bloodmeal only does one thing, and that's supply nitrogen.
so to compare them is a lil hard..
for me the preferred nutrient to replace bloodmeal is fish meal, but that also is a lil different, more slow, and more phosphorus than the bloodmeal too.
personally I don't use bloodmeal because I have nitrogen in so many other areas, not to mention I don't like soluble nutrients much anyways

I am posting my experience just in case someone else wants to give it a try.
I ordered EJ Just for Coir from Walmart online 3 days ago because it is almost impossible to find anywhere else although the local grow shop was willing to special order it. I ordered "Grow" Parts A & B and also "Bloom" Parts A & B. The pictures showed quart bottles and the prices were what you would expect for a quart bottle. Well they arrived today and everything is in gallon bottles. Now, I am not saying it couldn't just be an accident but I dunno. I guess though if you try them the worst that could happen is you only get what you paid for. The one thing is, the website doesn't actually mention a bottle size anywhere. It just shows the pictures and let's you draw your own conclusions. Here is the link I used.

Hey man - so how were your results using the EJ Just for Coir?
