Early Problems With First Grow

Have been reading these forums for quite some time, but am a new member and first time poster. I have been trying to do research through different threads before starting my first attempts, but as most newbies have, I have run into some problems. I have a homemade, sealed box that measures 2' D x 5' W x 7' T, with a 600w MH for vegetation, with dimple ballast, hung about 22" above the plants at this time. My temps vary about 10-15 degrees between "night temps" and "day temps" usually peaking in the mid 70's however, occasionally reaching 80. Has never dropped below 63 with lights off. I have a couple small fans for above plants, have a 240cfm calling my light, with direct air flow into and out of the light separate from box. The box has a passive air intake, with another 240cfm exhaust fan sucking air through a carbon filter before exhausting out of the box. Hopefully this gives some general background of the grow itself.

The issue I believe I am running into is a nutrient toxicity. I have 4 different strains started, more so as an experimental first grow, but would like a decent finished product at the end. I started this seeds from a trusted online bank, after germination I put them in Roots Organic Potting Soil. A friend of mine who has been growing for a couple years gave me some nutri-plus nutrients, with "his feeding schedule" which is where I think things have gone down hill. I know my ph is accurate, but unfortunately don't have a way of testing the ppm at this time. Attached are photos of each of the girls. The "largest" is Dream Machine by Heavyweight Seeds, the next one (going biggest to smallest) is Incredible Bulk by Dr Kipplinger Seeds, then is Lemon Cheescake by Heavyweight. These were all feminized seed, but then the smallest of the group(a late starter) is a 2 Fast 2 Vast auto that I had received as a freebie.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If their is any added information that would be helping in making suggestions I will be more then glad to provide them.

I have stopped the nutes for now, until I heard some responses, Should I flush? The feedings I was recommended by him was 10 ml/liter of water for veg as far as "diluting" of a 5-0-2. Then 5ml/liter of bloom a 1-4-8 and finally 5ml/liter of a 3-0-0 cal/mag product (all from nutriplus). After diluting each he said take 2 tsp of the veg, 1 tsp of bloom, and 1 tsp of cal/mag and add that to 1 liter of water, this was final "mixed food" and was to give 4 fl oz 2 times per week. Seemed really crazy based off of my research, and his finished products are not TOP shelf, however only grower I knew first hand before joining riu. Are they savable?

Thanks for quick responses!

Totally agree too small for all that rich liquid. I think of it like this: you wouldn't give an infant orange juice or kool aide. Can't digest it.
Try not to drownd them too! I killed one that way!

Thank you for the reinforcement on my original inclination. Unfortunately, being it was a recommendation from someone with a couple years under their belt that I knew, I felt it was worth while to give it a try. Now as a new member I can finally look at photos and see others have had similar issues, caused by early nutrients. Guess that's part of the learning curve! Thanks gain, help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You def stunted them a little but don't be alarmed. Had done it several times when I first started years ago. Learning curve! But have had them snap back an pull some serious weight. Check out few my journals an read thru. May help you. If ya got any ?'s just holler man. :bigjoint:

Hi I am on my first grow I just added water kept an eye on soil an when it needs more for first 5 weeks then I added bio nutes but found to be lacking in cal-mag so I am on day 34 with autos just fed cal mag and plain water only half amount as will give proper feed tonight and put right dose in one lot of my plants should be ready in about 10 days my next is fast and vast well I think u should just water till about 3 -4 weeks keep an eye on them though an any change you see you can approach it early then slowly add your nutes starting with low dose and increasing till your plants are happy read up on root rot you don't want that to deal with good luck

Thanks for the reply Superfen. I have been very closely watching my water levels to insure I'm not over watering. The pots I have are see through on the bottom and based on the visible appearance of the roots, I am not fearful of root rot at this point. I did flush the plants after making the original post about a week ago. The Dream Machine and Incredible Bulk both seem to have really jumpstarted after the flush, however my Lemon Cheesecake has made virtually no progress, and my 2 Fast 2 Vast Auto is slowly progressing. I went into the first grow, with the expectations of experiment with the ideas and concepts I have researched.

However, even though I have accepted my first grow as experimental, I would like to gain as much knowledge as possible, and end up with at least some decent smoke for myself to enjoy. Not looking to set huge yield goals, etc as I know I am new and don't want to set myself up for disappointment. Furthermore, it's designed to gain some skills before moving to a legal state.

Attached I have pictures that were taken this morning. These are approximately 36 hours short of being one week since my original post. Any tips or advice in regards to the grow is greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

Unfortunately, my brother decided to water the "plants" as he was clearly directed not too shortly before I got home and took the pictures. Normally water is strictly placed in the soil and not on plant or foliage.

Looking good
Do you think that I should continue to see what the Lemon Cheesecake does since there aren't any signs of root rot? I ask this, as this was planted the same time as the Dream Machine and Incredible Bulk and is still obviously stunted. The 2Fast 2Vast is approximately a week to 10 days behind as it was last minute decision to try out the freebie Auto seed.

Looks pretty decent for a first time grow! Thanks for the compliment, but I don't know that I'm doing all that good. It's early yet, just trying to learn as much as possible. What strains are you working with? Did you purchase seeds to start or start with bag seeds?

I tried the one auto this time with the 2 fast 2 vast, strictly as experiment, because when I move I'm not 100% what size space I'll have to work with. Right now though I have plenty of space to veg even indoors for a good 8-12 weeks before having to switch it over to 12/12. I just haven't heard enough positives yet about autos to jump on board. I see benefits to them if your growing outdoor trying to get harvest before rainy seasons, etc but just not big enough of a sell for me. Let me know how things go for you and I will have to keep doing more research on these.

Well things seem to keep moving along. The Dream Machine and Incredible Bulk seem to be starting to pick up strength. Seems that the Lemon Cheesecake is still recovering from me stunting her, and the 2Fast 2Vast Auto seems to be coming along. How they looking guys?

The bad luck keeps coming my way. Thinking I need to go my separate way from my brother as today he did some extra pruning that I definitely don't think the plant need. They don't look terrible, but definitely missing some of their solar panels. Also, this Lemon Cheesecake and the 2Fast 2Vast seem to be really slow growing.

Keeping a grow journal for keeping track of grow. If you wouldn't mind checking it out and letting me know if you think these things are even salvageable, I would greatly appreciate it! I'll even make it easy by adding the link right here ------> https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/tntgreen13.927876/

Yes dont even think of nutes for seedlings. Wait for a least 5 nodes. Three weeks in soi at least. In good soil like ocean forest, happy frog, or roots you can go a month easy.
