Ease of care would be my guess. Pretty sure you would get better yields from DWC but a lot more work IMO. Hopefully some who uses them will pop in. My one and only attempt at DWC was a recipe for rotten root soup lol.

I'm happy with Autopots. I've never run DWC. If you don't have a lot of time Autopots are the bomb. I yield very well with Autopots. Usually, with 30 day veg I'll yield 1.5 gpw

Got any pics? That's a great yield with a 30 day. Veg. Would love to see your setup.

I've never run autopots but I love RDWC. No chiller, never owned one & I run a sterile res. No root rot, slime, smells etc. Just large, pretty white root masses.
Lucky you lol. It's been about 10 years since I ran DWC and I can't remember what caused it :(. Could have been not enough DO but about to pull the switch on either DTW or RDWC. I don't think a chiller, sterile, or even beanies would be needed for autopots though.

Neither do I lol. I'm really intrigued with the 1.5 GPW with em though and at 30 day veg to boot. It just seems by the nature of the system that they only take up what they need re water, kind of like SIP so not a huge deal with DO. If they produce like a flooded system I'd be interested :)

The only "issue" i see with the auto pots is that they are gravity fed by the res to the valve tray that the pot sits in. If they are small plants and not taking up much then they will only have available nutrient wise in what is in the feed tray with the valve until it drinks enough to need to be gravity fed from the res.

I've been running them for around 3 years. Easiest way to grow that I've found. I use Promix HP with 2 inches of perlite in the bottom. Dyna Foliage Pro Dyna Mag Pro and Dyna Bloom. I also use pool shock in my reservoir. You have to run clean nutes or you'll stop hoses up.
