DWC Nirvana Lemon OG Haze auto 300watt LED

IMG_2825.JPG Hey all,
I'm very excited to be posting my first Grow Journal. I germinated 1 Nirvana Lemon OG Haze auto in a Rapid Rooter on July 1st. She popped in less than 12 hours. After a few days in a humidity dome I put her in her permanent home, a 1.5gal DWC under a 300 watt LED in a 18"w x 13"d x 48"t grow box. I'm using the GH flora trio with Calimagic and Hydroguard. I made the rookie mistakes at first with too much nutrients. Also, the grow box holds a lot of heat and the air pump that came with the box was a joke so she wasn't getting enough oxygen to the roots which caused her to droop terribly. I remedied both problems with a stronger air pump and a makeshift a/c system using a styrofoam cooler, fan, ice packs, and a 4" vinyl duct run straight to the intake fan. I've wrapped pretty much 95% of the res in reflective tape and made every effort to stop light leaks. I've been monitoring PH and PPM like a hawk keeping PH between 5.5-6.5. This particular strain is very sensitive to nutes so this past Sunday I took them from 1/8th strength to 1/4 strength. I also dropped the light from 24" to 18". Today is day 33. She is growing like crazy in the preflower stage with lots of white pistils coming in. I started LST and light defoliation on 7/27. I've got 10 total bud sights and I'm trying my best to get as much light to all of them while keeping a flat canopy. I'm hoping to get some feedback and constructive criticism on what I can do better, this being my first grow I am far from an experienced grower. Thanks for looking!

2 4" computer fans but they just aren't strong enough. I've got the light directly in front of them to pull the heat straight out. The temp in the room the box is in sits at 68F and the box temp was still getting up to 90F and making the res temp 78F-80F. I didn't want to invest in a chiller with such a small res. My little a/c unit keeps it around 82F max and my res temp is around 68F-72F.

I made an ac unit like that for my box also. Kept lil tubberware slabs of ice to keep the water cold. Got you a nice lil setup

Thanks! I did have a larger container that I filled with water and ice packs. I cut a hole in the lid to fit the res good and snug, kind of like a double boiler setup. I wanted to keep the ice packs separate from the res water in case they leaked. But once I added the ac unit the temp went down enough to keep her happy. It's a prefab box. Once I made all the changes with the pump, air stones, and got the temp under control it's been a really fun first grow. Once I finish this grow I'm going to mount the pump outside of the box to push cooler air into the res.

try to upgrade your exhaust, even just a 4-6" booster fan will help you a lot
I planned to. My only problem is it's such a small space. I want to save as much vertical space as possible. So I think whatever fan I buy will have to be mounted outside of the box positioned so it pulls air out. Any thoughts?

that would work, if at all possible run your exhausted air outside the room so you aren't using stale air

Nice a.c. rig. I've done that before. I bought the cooloer at dollar General for 5 bucks. I bought 10 ice packs. Plus i froze 2 liter pop bottle and two 20oz pop bottles full of water. And put them inside the cooler and blew the air across them to the intake. It lowered my temps 11• and it only costs the price of the fan running. Minus filling up the bottles the first time.

Thanks! I was surprised it made as much of a difference as it did. I think I've got $30 wrapped up in it with the fan, cooler, and ducting.

Bumps are to be expected I'm rounding up my first grow. So excited to do it all over again with what I know now!

Came home to this on some of my older fan leaves. PH dropped down to 4.7 so I've got it back up to 6.1. It's been dropping like that every day. The last few days, when I check it in the morning it's like 4.9-5.1, I will get it back to over 6.0, then when I get home from work it has dropped again just as low. Anyone want to weigh in? New growth seems to be doing fine.

Crystal white. I went ahead and did a res change. I was due for one on Sunday. I got home 2 hours ago and adjusted the ph from 4.7 to 6.1 and it had already dropped to 5.1 in a couple hours. Meter is calibrated correctly.
