Does having my air stone on while I take readings effect the outcome. Or should I turn it off to check the readings.

It does if you measure in a very bubbly area yes, it won't give a steady reading if that's the case. You can obviously test it easily yourself, just turn it off and measure and compare to value with airpump on.

Lol ya I went and tested it my self. I just wasn't sure if the dissolved oxygen has an effect on ppm but I guess its more of the water moving around. Thanks!

It's just that with large bubbles the contacts of the meters aren't constantly surrounded by the solution you measure. I only get that if I measure directly above an airstone.

I find the bubbling helps mix the nutes or ph up and down quicker.I leave bubblea going but i.monitor in a calm spot because it will throw readings off as others have stated.
