day 58 of flowering for the BB

day 51 since sprouting for the grape ape

aero res
pH 5.6
ppm 660
temp 68f

I reduced the photoperiod to 10/14 because I want these to finish, I need the space, the grape apes are just growin like crazy, need another pruning.

IDK why some parts of the BB are crispy and others aren't either, wish I did though. The grape apes are fed from the same res and look great.

My environment is pretty perfect, all the time 70f ambient and about 55%RH outside the tents, inside the flower tent its about 80f and 62%RH lights on and 73f and 60%RH lights off. It's about to be completely sealed, got another a/c unit coming, maybe I'll experiment with CO2 then but I doubt it until I get this nailed.

I got some new tools for the grow room, some wifi outlets, got some more GPS gear coming.

I read that some people had luck using carbon pad filters and velcro to block light on passive intakes so I'm going to try that to see if I can get rid of the cardboard light baffle and 8" duct I have now and use two passive intakes. I need the inches that getting rid of the duct on the side will give me.

Got maverick, hibernate, and cackleberry on the way.

This is just an observation from a fool who is not there, but I was suspecting light burn a few posts back.

Hey man, thanks for stopping by.

Probably. I can back off the lights a bit next run to see. The lights are 24” away from the canopy in the flower tent. No lenses or reflectors. I’ll try to keep them further.

I’m chopping the BB next weekend no matter what to get the grape ape in. Trichs say it’s ready anyway I just wanted to see if the pistils would start to turn brown.

I've been dimming towards the end. What I didnt see was signifcant bleaching spots (couple of dark purple/brown blotches but hard for me to tell what it is) or any other evidence of light burn which I would expect if that were an issue. I have also been contemplating re-arranging my COB distribution, currently on an equal grid spacing. I think there is a benifit to having them further apart in the middle and closer together at the perimeter.

Me too, toughest part about perpetual with limited space is the timing. No chance to buy yourself a couple of weeks by flipping the veg tent?

Nah, with the giant BB plant in the veg tent it would get bad real fast. I can’t shut that tent because the fan won’t fit. These BB plants have always been picky, don’t know if it’s cause they’re weak or what.

The plan is to just wait long enough until I figure out if these grape ape are gonna herm and then cut down the big BB in the veg tent because I don’t want to flower it, even though I know it’s not a herm, tired of it. I want to run humble pie after the grape ape.

I can really only fit six decent sized plants in my veg tent adequately without crowding any. But I would prefer to only veg four plants in there and flower four in a scrog, and yeah timing is hard, but only when I haven’t grown something. I keep good notes about height/diameter. The reason I’m growing six at a time is to find ladies.

Day 61 of flowering for the BB

Day 53 since sprouting for the grape ape

Aero res
pH 5.7
ppm 570
temp 68f

I’ve been really busy, with the garden somewhat but mostly other areas of my life.

I got some new filter housings and mounted them up, nothing really interesting there.

Got some WiFi outlets and I’m using those for my cloner pump, RO transfer pump, and another one for my 8800s. Makes everything super convenient, used to have to plug in/unplug all the time.

My drying closet is legit climate controlled now. It’ll be 70f 60%RH in there when drying. I made a ridiculous humidifier out of a bucket, fan and one of those ultrasonic mist makers just for the closet lol

New ac gets here Friday, BB is getting the chop on Saturday.

Going to pop some humble pie beans today.

Day 65 of flowering for the BB, got the chop today.

Day 57 since sprouting for the grape ape, should move them in the flower tent tomorrow if I have time.

Need to change the res tomorrow.

New a/c works great, should have plenty of capacity for summer.

day 58 since sprouting for the grape ape, moved them into the flower tent today

humidity dipped really low outside last night and today, the humidifier that I built had no problems keeping the whole grow room humidified to 60%

the drying closet has been 68-72f and 58-62%RH, pretty good

Picked up one of these

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078P484HD

For my future bonsai mom tray, since people love the qb that hlg make.

Going to get some shelving and a smaller table, and get rid of the huge table I have now.

Drying is coming along nice and slow. These BB have a really subtle aroma which gets ruined if they dry too fast.

The grape apes are stanky and they haven’t even been flipped. Got some more tucking to do later.

day 64 since sprouting for the grape ape, want to fill in the net a bit more before I flip but it will probably be before wednesday

I've been tucking fan leaves and weaving

pics are 4 days apart

They weren’t getting enough light in the veg tent, the middle of the plants were starting to wither, hoping these work out so I can get rid of the huge BB in the veg tent.

I built another trellis in case I need two in there.

Hi Distroy - You can measure the light. Par sensors (RapidLED) are about $150. Lux meters about $30 from Amazon. I only have a Lux meter for measuring white-ish light: veg at 30k-35k lux; stretch into 50k-55k lux for flower; and fatten/peak at 60k-70k lux if the plant responds with CO2.
I found the the BB I ran was very sensitive to nutes, and 2 out of 3 plants produced new white pistils until the end on small fat foxtails. (They never really 'finished'). The effects are my personal favorite. I noted that the cure after 6 weeks was even better than after 4 too for smell, taste and smoothness, whereas a lot of other flowers are great at 4.
You are running a great show!

Hey man, thanks for stopping by. I’ve been wanting to get a par meter for a while now.

The BB I ran, the pistils didn’t turn brown either. This time, my drying closet environment was very tightly controlled and the flower smells amazing and tastes good.

Fun times lol

I will get co2 eventually, my room is sealed now.

Cheers,
Did you have 4 or 5 GA? I only remember seeing 2 sites on this setup, did more get culled or what am I missing?
:peace:
Started with 6, 4 were dudes. Two in the flower tent, cloned them. Experimenting with keeping small mother plants in dirt.
