Yea you're going waste a ton of time if you start from a non sterile spore source and try knocking up jars. Make PDA dishes from 1/4 pint jars with one hole in the lid and the lid upside down. Put micropore tape over the hole so aha doesn't boil out when you pressure cook it. Let it cool for 24 hours in the PC so the agar melts down to the base of each jar. In a glove box add a little bit of spore powder. To half of the jars. Save the others in the glove box for a transfer when you get substantial growth. Stainless steel forceps and a scalpel can help.

I didnt think it was posssible to sterilise spores with heat
You can't. The ONLY sterile spores are from mushrooms grown Invitro and retrieving said spores sterile is a roll of the dice at that.
Do as iHearAll suggests and use agar and clean them up with a couple transfers if you have to.

Yea you don't cook the spores, you cook the agar and place a piece of gill on the agar after the dish is cool

Here's a tek to make PC safe petri dishes. Plastic ones from online are not PC safe.

You can use micropore tape instead of a filter like in the link.

I unfortunately dont have anything but shroom powder so itll be a mix of the whole bag of shrooms stems and all but its pritty fine powder

You can also look for a cardboard tek. You tear up inkless cardboard and toss it in a pail with holes on the bottom for drainage. Get the cardboard wet, add shrrom powder. Let it sit for two weeks before considering whether or not it has germinated yet. You'll have a bunch of contamination but you can begin to isolate a clean mycelium culture.
Google cardboard tek you may find this an adequate way to start and you could even do your shrooms growing outdoors if you can never manage to get sterile jars from the cardboard transfers

You guys seem to know what you are talking about so I'll ask this here. First is Amazonian cubensis stronger than psilocye cubensis? What do you recommend for a first timer? I've done a lot of acid at high doses before but this will be my first time with shrooms. From what I've read so far I'm seeing a lot of people say take an eighth for a good trip. And my last question is I have an eighth of each of these strains and me and friend want to take them is next weekend, if we need an eighth a piece can we chop it all up together and split it?

You can it a body high by just 3/4 a gram of any cubensis. A cube is a cube is a cube is a cube. So they're the same in potency. A cubensis is a good first timer strain yes. I started with liberty caps which was nice as well. Really it doesn't matter imo. Make sure there is no,vermiculite or substrate on your caps cuz that could cause an upset stomach during your trip, which isn't fun.

How do you tell if there's any vermiculite or substrate on it? And taking a eighth is ok?

Vermiculite is brown and sparkling. You'll see it at the very bottom of the stem if it wasn't washed off before being dried. Substrate, the same place. White Perlite dust.

If the shrooms are dry just scrap both off. If they're wet, wash them off under the kitchen faucet.

^what he said.
If you are unsure, brew a tea of your caps, an eight per person would be pretty fun. Chop orcrush your caps and cook on medium heat for an hour. Then filter the tea through a coffee filter. Try not to boil it because the break down temp of psilocybin is questionable. I have boiled the water out of my tea a few times and was left with a golden sludge that was still really potent though.

This is vermiculite. Its a layered rock that holds water well. So its used in lab grown mushroom cultivation. When its broken down it forms sport of sharp sheets that don't digest well. Some growers rinse and scrub the bases of the stems and some, cut the entire stem stub off. Wasteful but efficient in cleaning lol

good luck with this, op
Thanks, its worked for me with shiitakes. I waited until I had a section that won the battle for substrate and made a g2g transfer into four quart jars. Although some yeast carried along for the ride, yeast lost its footing in the end and either went dormant, became symbiotic or died. .. I really don't know lol

Thanks for all the help guys, the advice is helping a lot. One of the concerns I was having is the upset stomach that I've heard happens with shrooms.

Hey what do you guys think of these, they're kinda blue at the bottomm of the steams is that normal?View attachment 3948008
You buy these? Bluing is normal for psilocybin containing mushrooms, also some poisonous mushrooms Lol, but if you bought them from a grower you don't need to worry about the poisonous types. That's a problem when foraging only. Yea they look super dank, probably cubensis since they have a veil, if they're cracker dry then .7g is a threshold high and 7g is a break through the atmosphere. 3-5g is a good place to start. Enjoy, oh, and I would suggest tea if youreya newbie.

Ihearalls recipe for successful space travel:
5g cracker dry, crumple into 250ml water, cook on jjust-below-medium heat for an hour, strain, place mushy back in pot and add another 250ml and repeat for later when you're coming down, approx 4hours later,l. I like to add a bag of green tea or anything noncaffienated and a spoonful of sugar. Sip or gulp it went matter later lol
