Driving Down To Ohio

I'm going down to Ohio to visit with some family, however was not sure on the legal status of everything. I remember hearing that Ohio approved medical use, however does that mean I am able to legally take my meds from Michigan into Ohio when I go for my visit?

It’s still federally illegal so I would always caution crossing state lines. Having said that, I live right on the border near Toledo and go into town with meds on occasion. They are always locked away in the rear of the vehicle.

Ohio does not consider Michigan mmmp med cards. Gotta ride dirty. I had to look it up a mo th ago when I went on vacation there and wanted to bring meds with me.

from the law, this part is interesting:

Sec. 3796.16. (A)(1) The state board of pharmacy shall attempt in good faith to negotiate and enter into a reciprocity agreement with any other state under which a medical marijuana registry identification card or equivalent authorization that is issued by the other state is recognized in this state, if the board determines that both of the following apply:

(a) The eligibility requirements imposed by the other state for that authorization are substantially comparable to the eligibility requirements for a patient or caregiver registration and identification card issued under this chapter.

(b) The other state recognizes a patient or caregiver registration and identification card issued under this chapter.

(2) The board shall not negotiate any agreement with any other state under which an authorization issued by the other state is recognized in this Sub. H. B. No. 523 131st G.A. 30 state other than as provided in division (A)(1) of this section.

(B) If a reciprocity agreement is entered into in accordance with division (A) of this section, the authorization issued by the other state shall be recognized in this state, shall be accepted and valid in this state, and grants the patient or caregiver the same right to use, possess, obtain, or administer medical marijuana in this state as a patient or caregiver who was registered and issued an identification card under this chapter.

(C) The board may adopt any rules as necessary to implement this section.

its possible the ohio board of pharmacy has not done the steps required to accept michigan cards? yes, thats what the ohio mmj website says

DOES OHIO RECOGNIZE MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARDS ISSUED BY OTHER STATES?

Currently, Ohio does not recognize medical marijuana registry cards issued in other states. The law requires that the Board of Pharmacy attempt in good faith to negotiate and enter into reciprocity agreements with other states. If Ohio does enter into a reciprocity agreement with another state, more information will be posted to the OMMCP website.
if you are an interested party, try contacting the ohio board of pharmacy and get them to adopt other states cards.
