Dr. Feelgood plants smaller than expected

I have only grown one autoflower plant before this. It was Northern Lights and I was quite pleased with the results. Now I'm running five Dr. Feelgoods and one Cream Auto that I got for free when I bought the Feelgood seeds.

I planted the Feelgood and Cream April 3 and started them on a 12-12 cycle May 3. Seems odd that the Feelgoods all stopped growing at about 5 to 8 inches tall. They are all flowering like crazy, however. In contrast, the Cream is about 4 inches taller but has barely started putting on flowers.

I'm wondering if maybe I should have left the plants on a longer daylight cycle, like 18/6... Did I stunt the Feelgoods by shortening the day length too much or too early? Or does Feelgood always grow this tiny?

not familiar with the strain but given the limited conditions you describe along with only 1 plant as a datapoint its not surprising or anything

Keep lighting to 20/4 from start to finish.
No bloom nutes till end week 5 or no longer growing upwards.
Most auto breeders claim 60-70 days.... Consider this timeframe to begin once the plant has actually shown its sex. So for example you see white pistils on day 21 and it's a 70 day strain, total grow time from seed to harvest would be 91 days.
This is how I grow now and the results are tenfold a 60 day old plant!
They must ripen! Lol

That explains the new hybrid I am trying. Bloom nutes too early. The AKxDr. Feel good went crazy early so switched them early too. They are little bozai plants almost. But man..tmp_1523-yg-AKxDRFG-SS-1424900552.jpg

I wanted to thank you guys, belatedly, for the helpful responses. FWIW, I put my lights back on the longer day cycle. The Feelgoods stretched just slightly after that. One of the five was kind of the runt of the litter, never got taller than about five inches, so I harvested it last week to test the flowers. My wife tried it and said it was quite good for pain relief.

I chopped up a second plant a couple nights ago and am waiting for it to dry so I can get an idea of whether it's time to harvest the remaining three. I look at the trichs with a magnifier and don't see any ambers ... But most of the bud hairs are red or brown and the big leaves are starting to turn yellow and fall off, so I might not want to wait until the trichs turn color.

Regarding my other auto, a freebie Cream that came with the Feelgood seeds, the plant is about 4-5 inches taller than the tallest Feelgood, but the buds on it aren't nearly as big or tightly formed. Even though the flowers don't look very "finished," at least half the leaves on the Cream Auto have turned yellow and started to dry up. According to what I read on the BlimBurn site, I expected the Cream to finish about 2 weeks from now, but it looks like it might be "ahead of schedule."

A couple more details: of five Dr. Feelgood seeds, my average yield was about 12 grams per plant, if anyone cares. I plan to grow them again, but next time I'll leave the lights on a long-day cycle.

The Dr. Feelgood vapes quite nicely. It takes a few minutes to feel the effects, which remind me somewhat of old school Lebanese blond hash, meaning a very relaxed buzz without a lot of the mental drama and paranoia you get from some strains. Eventually couch lock sets in, and I get pretty goofy. Then it's nap time.

The Cream auto plant gave me about 14 grams. It also has a good taste vaping. The high is a lot better than I expected, uplifting but no rough edges. It feels energetic and does not seem to make me excessively lazy or sleepy. I'd definitely grow this strain again, but again, longer days next time around.
