Dorm Fridge Grow #2

I thought I would get in here and add some photos of my second grow in the fridge. The first grow was a trial run and a learning experience. That plant did ok and I did learn a lot. I could have left it a few more weeks but being a newbie I harvested too early. On to the second grow armed with more info, came with a lot of reading, and seeds from Royal Queen.

The fridge has about 16 inches of grow room from the top of the res to the lights. 14" wide and 12" deep. I am using a Rubbermaid tote that I fill with 3 quarts of water & nutes. I am using Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow / Bloom 2 part base. B52 and Voo Doo juice.

The seeds for this grow are Royal Queen Critical Auto and Royal Queen Haze Auto. I floated them in distilled water for 6 hours on 1 Feb. and placed them in between wet paper towels waiting for the great white taproot to appear. Checked on them the morning of 3 Feb. Placed both seeds in Rockwool cubes that afternoon and put them in the fridge. The Critical bean broke the surface of the Rockwool cube on 6 Feb and the Haze followed it on 7 Feb. Had roots in the water on 10 Feb from the Critical and the Haze on 13 Feb.

I have 3 veg bulbs and 3 bloom bulbs on them right now on a 18 / 6 light cycle. I also have a small oscillating fan mounted on the door with velcro strips. Temps are 82 with lights on and about 72 -75 with lights off.

Don't know much else to tell about this grow, and I'm open to questions or comments good,bad...... whatever

I took the time to smell each plant when check the ppm and pH. Very skunkie and starting to smell them faintly when you walk into the room where they are. I want to LST them or should I just let them go. Can't wait till April, fingers crossed.

Hope these beans are good. I tried to get seeds that would work in the space I have. Have seen quite a few of small beans that would work for the space we have.

I was thinking those Royal Queens were a Queen/Critical cross, didn't know RQ was the breeder, oops. Still if it is Critical [[as in Critical Mass?]]] it is awesome smoke or should be.

I have been a on Queen kick recently looking for anything with Mazar bred into it. Love those short squat, knock you on your ass, indica's....my broken spine begs me for it :bigjoint:

It has been said that good things come in small packages. I was reading somewhere, on some website about a 4' tall Mazar that put off about 9 oz. So I figured 4.5 @ 2' or less .... you never know.????

nice setup, plants look happy. this is something i have been looking into for awhile. i have a fridge reg size(not setup), and have been looking for a stand up freezer(more room). yesterday i found a non working one for a big bag of dog biscuits. i think i'll go with cool tubes and smaller hids with maybe some leds. good luck on your grow. peace

Do you think If I cut a large fridge in half it would explode providing that it has not been turned on for over a year and does work? :)

if your going to cut it in half, then you should release the freon. you also need to do it outdoors. i know where your at you don't have the conveniences that we have. i'm going to take mine to a local place to remove the freon for me. people around here will do it for free so they now have some more freon of that type. if you got the room why cut it in half? you can use the freezer part to veg, and the fridge for flower. but i'm not sure how yalls fridges are designed. check out this vid on some homemade carbon filters and his fridge setup. you may have to have a bogus google email account to sign in to see it, i have to.

I want to do one in a large fridge one day. Freezer compartment for starting seeds or clones, lower section for blooming. Gutting the back and getting the airflow right seems to be the challenge. I would DWC for sure, and if you had 2 to work with.... never buying weed would be great. It would put a hurt on the cartel.

I've been sitting here reading some of the different post of all the buds you guys are growing. I was wondering about doing a SCROG in the fridge with one of the racks that was in there when I got it. Here is a pic of the rack.

The only problem would be getting the tub out to change the water every week. What do you guys think about using it?

Hey mate!

It's kinda good idea, but think ahead!
When your lady's flowers are going to fatten up, they might be too tight in this.
And when it's harvest time, they could be trapped. So you might need to cut this white thing down.

Just too much confusion, keep it simple. Get something more convinient, like chicken wire and build your own, or something ready.
Generally, search scrog runs and you'll find your answers!

Cheers!

Well it was a thought. I may take it to work and cut it up and then use some hemp string to make squares. That way at the end of the grow you can just snip it for easy removal.

I just checked my res and the pH was 5.6 but ppm have gone up from yesterday. 230 ppm to 255 ppm. What am I doing wrong or is this normal. I added nutes on Wed at 1/4 strength. The plants will have been in the cabinet 3 weeks tomorrow. Do I need the flush or should I increase the nutes??? Hope someone can help me out here.

Hot damn boys, the ppm's are down from 255 to 219 and the pH is holding steady @ 5.62. Today is 3 weeks since I put them in the fridge. Got some photos for ya'll to check out.

Both ladies in the fridge, chilling

Here is Ms. Haze. Damn she smells good and skunky today. She is 2 3/4" tall.

This is Ms. Critical. She has grown to 3 1/2 inches and isn't quite as skunky as Ms. Haze. Stalk is almost a 1/4'' in diameter.

This has been a great day for growing. Wish I had some bud to smoke to celebrate, but I am enjoying a Flying Dog Raging Bitch for them girls in the fridge. Woo Hoo:hump:
