Catchy title, right?
Former DWC with GH nutes guy trying my hand at coco and organics and I've got an issue. I've currently just got seedlings about to go into pots from pre-soaked plugs, so I haven't started feeding just yet.
I'm running BioBizz coco with Earth Juice Sweet and Heavy line. Problem I'm having is that I'm mixing to directions at half strength for hand watering but when I measure the pH after aerating for 24 hours it's down to 3.4. On the bottle it says NOT to adjust pH but that makes no sense to me. I know coco self adjusts but I can't imagine starting from that low would be good for the plants. So, adjust or trust the bottle?

Adjusting is easy enough. My guess would be that, although I'm no expert. Error on the side of caution is what I would do :eyesmoke: Good luck with the grow!

well regardless of the bottle ,if it's 3.4 ,it's wrong and needs to be adjusted. Are you sure your ph meter is working ok or needs calibrated ,test the ph of you rtap water and see what it reads ..3 .4 is very excessive drop in ph..

Is that a ph perfect brand? If so don't adjust your ph. Do double check your ratios and watch plants for first signs of yellowing.

3.4 does sound really low but then again advanced ph perfect comes in at 5.6 and dirt users pour it in at that ph with no bad results. Best suggestion I think would be to call the company. They will be more than happy to help with your probs. When I first changed to AN ph perfect I called them right as I was going to pour the first gallon through. I told them ok I'm bout to water in with this and am a little sketchy. He reassured me as I was watering and gave me some great info and tips on the line. I've ran coco for over 4 years and know 5.8 ph is key so I was def weary of the new way of things. Since my reassurance I haven't used a ppm or ph meter for about three runs now. The results are flawless and can tell u it works 100 %.

Give em a call and pick their brain Brutha. Sure they won't have a prob helping you out with your quarrels.

Sorry I couldn't answer your question direct but I'm sure the creators of your line will!

I'm used to adjusting water pH and my equipment is fully calibrated, so I'm sure the Ph values I posting are correct, I'm just not familiar with how well or fast coco will buffer the pH. If anything I put in there ends up at 6.0 that's fine but I'm concerned about the time it takes to buffer to 6.0. I don't want to stress the plants with a swinging pH cycle. I think for my own piece of mind, I'll adjust the pH and see how things look. If they show problems I'll do what seems counterintuitive and ignore the low pH.

I got this from their website,http://www.hydro-organics.com/home/index.php?categoryID=556

"12. I mixed a solution using the Earth Juice Original Formulas "Advanced Chart" and my pH is 3.90? Since 1991 the mass majority, including ourselves, of gardeners who use the Earth Juice Original formulas simply mix with water and use without adjusting the pH. The initial pH of Earth Juice Original formulas will generally be on the mild acidic side, this is primarily due to the natural phyto-acids and amino-acids contained in many of the Earth Juice formulas. These are considered "Weak" acids that will help transport (chelate) nutrients for easy and rapid use by the soil microbes and plants. Earth Juice will adjust and be conditioned by medium and beneficial microbes supported by the applications of Earth Juice."
