Does size matter? 8========D

Do the size of net pots affect plant growth? The reason I ask, is because I used 1.75" netpots to grow, 1.5ft plants, and they hit about 2ft after flower. Bud was super potent, but small.

Like rky said, I think how long you're vegging is going to affect final plant height (+ genetics) more than netpot size.

I started using 2.5" netpots this year - my last couple plants were around 3 feet tall, but my current one is closer to 4. For me, difference could be genetics, but I also vegged for an extra week this time around

about a month, cut clones
My Blue dream mother is a short bushy plant, it does not grow like it's normal sativa variant. It does have the sativa effects though, hits me in the eyes then the high continues to climb, like a bright burst of light and if I smoke before bed, keeps me up all night. Beats coffee any day. This BD scores as much bud as my big OG kush plants. I got these seeds in the wooden box from Humboldt, is not bag seed.

My OGK clones did the same thing though. 1.75" net pots. They were under a different light though.

Another way I thought about your question:

Let's say you decided to grow taller plants (clones from same mother). The size of the netpot wouldn't be the first thing I change - probably wouldn't get bigger netpots at all.

I'd first change how long I'm vegging. Then, I'd make sure the light is sufficient (it sounds like it is). Don't mean to keep parroting rky, but the only reason I'd change to a bigger netpot is if the size of the base stem is wider than 1.75"

Edit: I guess you wouldn't know how fat the main stem is going to be until you start growing.. But I also feel like 1.75" is wide enough if you're vegging for <2 months

I've grown big ass plants with that light. Quantum Board setup. I just thought maybe the root system was limited by the small plastic cut outs, in the pots. Not sure what is doing it, causing them to grow so small. Maybe I shouldn't expect anymore from little plants. I have seen other grows, not in aeroponic bins. They grew nice big xmas tree style crown buds. I was hoping for 30+ of those. :) shit

I got to be doing something wrong. I did notice that my main stem purples on both strain in hydro. They only candy stripe in dirt. Maybe it's a nute thing?

Yes size matters. The clones I started this go round in 5 gallon pots are WAY bigger then the ones I started in 1 gallon pots at the same time

magnesium

if your petioles are red/purple they need mag, it would make sense in soil the same strain would need less mag as theres prob some in the soil already.

I tried 3" but I was getting light leaks so switched back to 6". I could also have covered the pots but I had been using 6" and they work well. The leaks did affect the root growth and it was not as developed as it normally was in the same time frame. I also cut every other web in the bottom of the pots I use the open them up a bit, not sure if I need to but it can't hurt.

You could be right, I was adding molasses, which I though was a source for cal/mag. Would this affect the bud size?

You really have the gears turning this morning, I think that is the best answer yet. Wake and bake.

There's your problem right there, you are using LEDs . They typically are for small plants and small grow rooms, they can produce weight , but don't expect the nug size or density to compare to HID lights.

I grow in dirt and I get the weight and density though.
