Yulp. with a good top dress of compost will help even more. I water my 3 galllon pots 2 qrts 2x /week. a gallon a week. but they never even get close to drying out. and shouldnt as it can cause damage to roots.

Yeah it seems that way. I like getting my plants extra dry before watering anyway so I end up watering about once a week, maybe two in flower.

It is promix hp. Just some espoo a garden tone mixed in and a light top dressing of EWC. You can see pictures of it in my thread in signature.
Promix is peat based. Next time Add Something that doesn't retain water to well . like perlite or coco.

I always recommend an additional 25% by volume of perlite to promix bailes. The expanded volume of promix, may I add, which is around 7 cu ft.

I have always jus added a 4 cu ft bag of perlite to two bailes of promix.

Even for organics?

I wonder I'd the problem is I put it in too large a pot from clone. It had 2.5 gallons to a clone with maybe 11inch main root and 3-4 secondary roots.

Na, that's not it. Your soil isn't drying out because it retains to much water. Organic means your not using chemical nutrients.. Coco and perlite have nothing to do with that. Keep it right under the light so it can dry out faster.

Especially for organics. Your on to something with pot size. Not enough root to suck up water fast enough. Water less amounts more frequently.
My organic soil is 33% perlite, 33% peat moss and 33% compost/EWC then ammended with DTE vegan mix at 10lbs per cubic yard. Oyster shell flour at 1-2 lbs per cubic yard. It's different each round, I'll use it in small increments until the ph has settled where I want it for the plant type (this is for my vegi garden, different plants different ph). Top dress with 4 tablespoons vegan mix, 1 tablespoon oyster shell flour, and 1 cup EWC every 30 days.

Simple. Easy. Cheap. Effective.

I guess I need to buy some perlite then.

Just weird that the high porosity mix is not drying out.
Just water less the small roots in the bigger pot don't help but it's not a huge problem you just got to adjust your watering schedule for this plant..when I water my 5gallon pots I use a half gallon of water per pot, I water every 3 to5 days or so. Some need it quicker then others.

Trust me I'm a professional.. Ask my mom!

Ok... so I am going to try adding 25% perlite to the promix HP.

Does anyone notice the short fiber length of the Hp?

Fucking A... I just opened my bag of pro mix and it smells like straight up cat piss. Wtf.
Thats not good. ! Did sit in thr rain. And i agree with mrsunshine. Just water less and maybe transplant more. It tskes me four steps to get to. 5 gallon pots. Cubes. To pint. Half gallon yhan finally 3 or 5 galon pots to finish

The smell is definitely not normal. I will have to buy another bale of something. I have been having problems with promix nonstop.

They stopped selling promix ultimate at the depot. That was my go to mix

How dare those assholes, you should write a letter. I personally use over priced fox farm soils and mix everything together to make a strong overpriced superish soil..

I guess It's not that expensive because my hydro shop sells the bags for 9 bucks.. If I was paying16 to 20 dollars a Bag ,the way it used to be and still is in certain places I wouldn't use it.
