Thanks buckets
Its kinda hard to believe and I left some stuff out too. Its the main reason I rarely talk about it...cause I got called a pity whore...on here along time ago...
and unfortunately for me its all true and diagnosed by a barrage of doctors..

No Itsme in Ontario but thanks...I have been trying to do as much myself as possible.
I hand carved all my stairs from 12/4 x 12 rough sawn white pine..and all the treads are interlocked with joinery... instead of nails/screws...
lots of time when you work as slow as me to put some details into it...

sounds like that ancient Japanese carpentry. That stuff is amazing. I was witness to a lot of bullying on here this past weekend so I understand where you are coming from when you mentioned being called a pity whore and what amazes me is that a lot of the guys who did this are above 40...

Funny I was thinking that same thing tonight...Remember back to when we were both younger and vibrant at participating in icefishing
and fishing in general...doubt many here would be familiar with our escapades but both Gb and I have been at this online forum thing since it was invented. Both of us somewhat fishing online celebrity types...for a number of years....before trolls ruined that shit for me too...
Oh and the health started to slip to put it mildly....
It was nothing for us to be out at 4am on a minus 40 morning...sitting on a bucket for 10 to 12 hours...and putting in a glorious day on the ice...
and usually some trout too...
A dearly departed friend Lurch...and I as well as a few others ...kinda pioneered the meet and greet for on line forums as well as competitions
between different fishing boards... we would also hold a day at the end of march and hold a derby for the family's of all the guys we chatted with on line...
which turned into an annual thing for a while....with over 100 people coming out for a fish and augersports (simillar to timber sports) and some plaques and trophy's...plus there would be tons of food and multiple bbq's on ice and french fries. chilli etc etc...
But you are certainly right gb went down hill fast...

Much of what you have written matches closely to my playbook. I figure if telling people I have MS does not fizz them then likely all the other things just sounds like I am whining. When people ask you what is wrong, or are you OK, the best answer I find is nothing is wrong and I am fine. If I choose to tell them I find they just look at me like I am making victim noises. I find it very telling how your friends seem to abandon you when the going gets tough. I chose to remove three friends from my life this week because my MS and other issues make me to "high maintenance" for them.

Good on you for not giving up. Although I hate to give up my independence I realize that sometimes I need help, so I graciously accept it when it is offered genuinely without any strings attached.

That's so true....all of my original crew except one...bailed on me.... mostly after my heart operation, since I think they thought I was gonna die,
every time we went out fishing etc...meanwhile once I recovered from the heart surgery....I was in better shape than most of them...at least cardio wise...
and they kept on smoking....cigs etc..

That's part of the reason it was so nice to come here .. when GB and I kinda figured out, that we had managed to
meet up again for the second time...on-line thru a mutual interest...What were the chances....? anyhow I glad we did make that connection again....
since I have always admired GB's style...and consider him a friend....
As well ...I have met and got to know ... a few individuals from this forum and would be proud to call any of them a friend....You know who you all are...lol
Though we have never met Zoic... I would be happy to burn one with you ...I can just tell we would also hit it off...if we met in person....
would love to have you as a neighbour.

I say that "I'm fine" a lot of the time too, since who wants to hear about a massive list of ailments... but it does garner some strange looks from my doctors...
I was really stubborn about doing the work on this addition on my house....since I spent many years designing and building other peoples dream homes...hundreds of them...and when it finally became my turn to do something like this....boom health issues galore...
Now I am more likely to accept help from those who make genuine offers, since some things I can no longer do....like putting drywall up over my head...
I can't even attempt that kind of exertion...

Sorry to hear your buddies moved on. I never leave a good friend behind. Unless he fucks me over which is rare. To me, friendship loyalty is number 1

GB..I might hold you to that....we could rent a nice warm one, somewhere the fish actually bite....
maybe a weekend in temagami...could rent a bungalow on the ice....but would need probably a min of 4 or 6 people..
Would be fun to cross the forum and get a group from here...to rent a bunch of bungalows....
Have the first ever on ice meet and greet for "Roll it up and rip some lip"

Zoic
Don't ever feel your too high maintenance, for your buddies...otherwise they probably are not as good of friends
as they may like to think they are...We may be sick...may even die someday...but don't mean we no longer exist...

HEY there that guy! lmao

Or we could BORROW one close to home out on the grounds and pull double digits worth of fish out of the lake.
I know a few people who live and are set up.
Its an easy to set up............ even some of the operators do ok..
Temagami is over rated specially at minus 40 lol :bigjoint:
Better spots close to home.
Was up at Temagami two weeks ago with my kids.
Have another pilot buddy who has a nice cottage up near town.
Went for a spin around the area...
lol dude...there are some lakes you can only get into by plane and only on certain days depending on wind...
none stop stupid fishing lol but ,its not lake temagami

We'll have to drag Hippys ass out there and show him what a good day on the ice is all about

Cannadan - not sure where exactly you are but if you're gta or north I'd be happy to help you out with some of the flooring and trim. I'm no tradesman but I've done two of my own houses in hardwood and stone. It'd give me time to pick you're brain and find some new spots to bring my bucket and auger.

Thanks Brewery...Thanks....When I get closer...to that I would love some help.
I'm doing a 100 year old trim style that's sorta Victorian... and the floors are oak in most of the place now so we are going to probably do wood floors throughout...except bathrooms which are tile and done already.
but I do have 3 rooms of concrete floors and was thinking maybe epoxy resin floors...
My grow room floor could actually be reflective like metal flake or glitter...
oh and no problem on the fishing tip or spots...know some good ones.
