never shingled a damn thing in my life before. had to put up fascia boards and get supplies too. that includes a second trip to get the right blade for trimming the shingle ends.

only took a few hours.

The right blade for trimming the shingle ends? Didn't the man ( your supposed Father, or Jesus, whatever ) who built the most beautiful churches in NJ teach your dumbass anything growing up? My guess is you fucked up BIG TIME until you had to go to Lowes/HD and ask a woman how to fix your fuckup.

The right blade? You mean a salesman told you you needed a special blade to cut shingles? I just use a regular box knife like all the pros do, you got suckered.

thought the straight blade would be fine. guess the hook nose is needed.

wasn't looking rightwih the straight blade. hook nose made it look a lot nicer. worth the $4.

The reason it didn't look nice was because you weren't using a straight edge to cut along. That salesman sure got you good though, not close to $4, but its a nice lie for you to try anyway.

tacked a 1x2 to the fascia board to get a slight overhang, actually.

the hook nose blade was the right tool for the job. no salesperson helped me either.

I won't deny that the hook blade is better, but it certainly wasn't needed. if your cuts weren't straight its because you suck at cutting, no other reason.

shingles aren't needed. i could tack a heavy duty tarp to the plywood.

i want it to look nice. i get to look at it every time i let the dogs out or have a smoke.
