Do you smoke your clippings?

I have. Yeah it takes more to catch a buzz, but it is pretty cool to see how the plants are coming along.

For those who do, how does the clippings compare to the final product? I am trying to figure out how my bagseed is doing, whether it's worthwhile or a waste of time and effort.

I regularly use them to spin out my doobies.
I don't think they are very indicative of the final buds, especially if taken in veg.
Leaves from buds, that are covered in sugar crystals might :)

No, fan leaves get composted and sugar leaves are used towards concentrates.
So if you use them for concentrates then logically this means that they do contain THC, correct? So I wonder how much THC they contribute? Do you have to keep refining it to make it strong enough?

To everyone:Like I said, I do smoke my trimmings. I gathered about 1&3/4 oz. wet weight yesterday and just waiting for it to dry now. I weighed it so that perhaps I can see how much wet weight would equal dry weight come harvest time. Should give me a rough estimate anyway in my harvest.

The leaves do contain THC that much I know from personal experience. I can assure you that the leaves now, are almost as potent as the stuff that we got back in the late 70's and early 80's. And are stronger than the home grown back then.

Chemphlegm, you would have hated it back then lol. Colas? We rarely, if ever saw those. Forget a 10" cola, that just didn't happen way back then. At least not to my knowledge.

Mr Pickypants :).
wasnt always like that. I was into making it produce whatever would come. but now half my body is crippled up and the other half is pissed off about it, not much I can do but force accommodation with these bitches. I've got a whole nother side of marijuana growing to master now, the kind that grows perfect with limited use of hands and feet. This includes trimming if you get my drift. everything must be easily accessible to me now, like no getting on hands and knees to see under plants, no ladders to change light bulbs, etc.
so kinda forced to do things as they've worked out best for me. plus providing exclusively colas is pretty cool they think...

in legal states now you gotta realize this fluff and sugar leaf shit is plentiful, a nuisance really. drying it, storing it...its all weight for us, illegal weight if we're at our limits. It makes no sense to use up time and resources to gain less oil from sugar leaves than from excess/old buds. We dont ever have issues of shortages, on the contrary.

clear this up a bit.
the thc in the sugar leaves is just as potent as the bud thc. there is less of it on the sugar leaves. they test lower thc by weight because of this fact. sugar leaves are a win. I toss my frikken roaches in the fire full time, I'm so embarrassed to admit it, but why would I ever choose to suck up a sappy used sticky joint when I have 20+ strains all sitting here full time for me to sample, brand new, fresh, plus I am required to test this before it leaves, its my duty. roaches stink, take up space, taste like shit.

now in the 70s I held them dear, sometimes even for special occasions, so..... by by pipe scrapings and bag dust. when I see a bud on the floor, and I do most days ...it gets sucked up by the robot and I dont give shit. all floor cooties and shit...lol

It depends what you mean by clippings. I consider clippings to be the sugar leaf while trimming buds. I trim my buds really tight so I get a decent amount of trichome covered small leaves. If your talking about fan leaves then no way. That stuff goes into the compost bin.
Even then, I rarely smoke the sugar leaf. I prefer the dry ice method for extracting the trichomes. I save up enough to make it worthwhile and then press it into hash.

if I eat a large cannabis leaf even ground up in the vitamix it hurts my tummy. so sad
The large leaves have too much chlorophyll and can upset my stomach, plus i find them bitter, the newer, lighter shoots are generally sweeter and don't usually cause issue with me. It also depends how heavy they're feeding how bitter they are. When I had bonsai moms on they're reduced feeding schedule, the new growth was delicious.. lol.

Yes I've heard the sun leaves can cause stomach issues so have never tried them. I really don't like the taste either ..... kinda yuk lol. I started making BHO a long time ago before most people knew what it was actually and I've got it down to a pretty streamlined process, with a vacume chamber and micron guage I can pretty much tell when it's refined and stops off gassing but yup I smoked a lot of butane in my twenties lol.

Okay I will be honest. I am getting tired of the taste and smoking 5-6x as much as normal just to catch a little buzz.

Chemphlegm, I'm sorry for your condition, I am almost in the same boat myself. Which is why I am growing now myself. The VA is discontinuing the medicine that kinda, sorta, works but not really. This leaves me little choice, Tylenol and liver damage, or medical grade MJ. In other words, no choice really.

I probably should change the topic before I get PO'ed at them more. So how about them Lakers? Lol

I don't think I will have much of a harvest this year but it is a good learning experience and I will get something anyway.
