Do I need a bigger pot?

I have two relatively easy questions for you guys. I am growing in a pot that is 8 inches in diameter (have no clue how many gallons), will my plant be ok throughout veg and flowering or should I transplant it? Also if you guys think I should transplant it later on (or now!), what is the best way to transplant with minimal plant shock? Thanks!

(Heres my 16 day old plant below, today 02/02/09)

si! go bigger, then go bigger again, bigger the easier, but wouldnt hurt to let it get a bit bigger

just turn the thing upside down and ta it abit, it will come out and just plant it in a new pot with the same medium

SHIT I FORGOT! This is a CFL grow and im only vegging for 6 weeks (want a plant about 20 inches no bigger than 24+ inches in height). Would this matter? Also how many gallons is in a 8 in diameter pot? Anyone know?

stays relevant.
Nobody can tell you how many gallons your pot is... The diameter alone is not enough, it would help if we knew the height as well, plus you have to account for the shape of the pot... does it get smaller the further down you go?

I keep my mothers in 5gal pots, and flower clones in 1 gallon pots... I'm sure whatever you have will be fine.

Got the answer to my question on another post if anyone is interested.....or they have an 8 inch in diameter pot

1 ft^3 = 7.48 gal
1728 in^3 = 1ft^3
v=pi x r^2 x h

v= 3.14 x (4 ^ 2) x 7

v = 3.14 x 16 x 7

v = 3.14 x 112

v = 351 in^3

351 / 1728 = .2035 ft^3

.2035 x 7.48 = 1.5 gal

I don't care about rep. Shove it in a battery and save it for later

if you wait a little bit till the roots grow into the pot it makes transplanting ten time easier, this way you can just turn it upside down tap the bottom and it will all come out in a clump, just be sure not to wait to long or it will stunt growth until it gets more room
