Hey,

Going to document my grow here, hopefully won't hit any snags this time.. I notice there is also another dude journaling this strain right now so it should be interesting to compare the two.

Got 1 fem 24k Gold from DNA Genetics and I will be growing it in Biobizz light-mix for the first 1-2 weeks then transplant into 5 gallons of BioBizz All-Mix.

Light source is a 250 HPS and I will be using plant magic nutrients. I have bio-silicon, cal-mag+ , grow, bloom and bloom boost. Whether I will use all of these is yet to be decided..

I plan to top the plant at the fifth node as I believe the plant is a stretcher, and initiate flowering at around 8 - 10 inches of height.

I'm currently at day 3 of proper veg, the seed was sowed directly in light mix and put in a warm place on Saturday 23rd, and it broke through on Monday 25th. However I'm counting Wednesday as my day 1 as this is when it had fully opened up it's first baby leaves.

Here is the pics so far.

Day 0 - nice looking seed.

That's week 1 over today. Always hate the first 2 weeks when there's hardly anything to look at.
Not the most vigorous plant I've had but she's not doing too badly. Still hasn't rooted in this 6 inch pot so I imagine she will pick up very soon once she's found her feet. Unbelievably when I rub these leaves between my fingers I get a strong whiff of dank and oranges :)IMG_20160504_081922639.jpg IMG_20160504_081945797.jpg

My journal is just the flowering stage of the 24k but glad to see how the 2 compare. What seedbank did you use?
Bonza was mine. I have a couple of clones i put into soiless mix we can compare

Pickandmixseeds.

So, yesterday was day 8 and I gave her a really light feed. Doing away with tap water for this grow as I have a feeling my tap water is really alkaline. so I watered her with mineral water with a ph of 6.2 and added 0.5ml per litre of plant magic grow. The bottle says 3-5 ml per litre so I basically gave her like a 5th of the lower recommended dose.

She doesn't seem to have reacted badly to it but I can't decide if that is a slight burning of the first true leaves. Looks very minor anyway and I feel she will be fine. In fact you can sort of see it in the first set of pictures I posted, so perhaps it was an initial reaction to the soil. I have a feeling this "light mix" is slightly over ferted. cheers man, unfortunately I think I should have left it this time.

The last week hasn't went well for her, something annoyed her, It was either the feeds or the mineral water or a combination, that's the only variables I can think of .

So, at around day 8 growth seemed to slow down and the 3rd node leaf set came in with the the leaves folded over and hooking down, day 9 and part of the first node leaves went all crispy. Kind of had me stumped. I've never heard of clawing down as being a nute burn symptom... but I racked my brain and the only other time I had this weird stunted growth with hooked leaves was wayyyy back when I was first starting out and tried growing in this soil mix out of the garden depot, that I found out after buying a ph meter that was a ph of like 4 . So.. could this be a ph issue? could the mineral water be even lower than the figure on the bottle, then adding nutes lowered it further? That's the only thing I can think of.

So anyway, what I did, was I potted it up into a slightly bigger pot , this time into the all-mix, and gave it a good watering with plain old tap water. Hoping that this would start to stabilise the ph if it was a ph problem. The next day (day 10) it looked slightly improved, it had gotten a bit bigger, and the leaves felt more soft and supple to touch and no more progression of burning.. result. The folded leaf did not straighten out though and this annoyed me so I topped above the 2nd node. I hope I did it right as the nodes are super tight and it was difficult to make the cut.

day 8 weird growth.

day 14 , transplanted and topped in the last few days, seems to be improving.

Yeah that's weird bro, she's looking good now though so hopefully she'll be right from here :)
It does sound like a pH issue though, either that or temp... it looks like it's corrected now though which is sweet!!

it has actually been really hot here lately temps could be another valid argument. Anyway youre right she does seem to be a lot happier now. Hopefully I have a nice little bush to post up next week. Just soaking up the 250 watt rays with her Carolina reaper baby sister :)

I'd say the heat may be why she wasn't happy mate, if nothing else was really different. She's looking good though mate! And crikey, you like your chilli hot hey? I can hit ghost chillis but the reapers are ridiculous ha ha

haha I do yeah man, I buy them dried out online, figured I could grow them hotter myself :)

So I have a good update today, day 17 of veg. She's finally showing a nice white taproot out of the bottom of the bottom of the pot, and she's just recovered from the topping and is starting to kick of good growth the 4 branches have all came up sort of even so, looking real good. The burning stayed to the first leaves and the new growth is coming In nice and healthy , all in all I've went from worrying that she was gonna runt or I had damaged her or she was gonna be too finicky for me to handle, to be being very happy with her. I think another 2 weeks tops before I flip her to flower.

Thought it was worth mentioning, I've switched her to the gas lantern routine about 4 days ago and I have also changed her light cycle to come during the night instead of the day, just so shes cooler. So at the min lights on at 7pm to 7am and on for an hour at 12.30 pm to 1:30pm to break up the night cycle for the gas lantern routine.

The most ridiculous tangerine smell with a Kush undertone she really don't show out till day 56 or so how long you gonna take her? I've been doing 63 days

on her
aw i'd be so happy if I got that smell . I dunno really, Ideally 9 or 10 weeks, but I feel a lot of the time strains need another week or 2 more than breeders instructions, so probably go 11 from flip, we'll see

she really did take it well. I'm now at the stage now where I can't help sneaking a peak at her every now and then, shes getting sexy. loving the little indica dom leaves. its day 19 , I even had a brief thought of sticking her in flower as ive read that she stretches for 4 weeks, but shes not rooted well enough yet so i'll give her a week or so.
