Dj Short's Grape Krush.

So begins my next round of pheno hunting. After completing a search through the Blueberry and wrapping up the F-13's now I've decided to move on to the Grape Krush. I am beginning with 67 sees in total. 3 were squished and one was premature.

I am not certain of the age of the seeds, but I assume they're going on well over 5-7 years old now, perhaps as old as 10 years. I am a bit nervous about this germination round as I know there have been reported complications with the germination rates of the Grape Krush before. But I am confident in my ability to coax enough of them out to get a good selection.

Seeds were lightly scuffed in a match box with a fine grit sand paper and placed in approximately 8oz. of water with 8-10 drops of h2o2. I will soak them for approximately 12-14 hours at which time I will then place them in a moistened paper towel.

There is a great video on youtube, a guy experimenting with three different solutions to revive old seeds using gibberellic acid.... a really small dose he upped the germination rates by a pretty high percentage. Not everyones cup of tea but seems like a good idea when seeds are close to 10 years old.

36 hours later, 20 placed in soil. I didn't exactly know how to approach this one. I wasn't certain of the viability of the seeds and wanted at least 15 females to work with. It's looking like I'll have a few more than that. These will most likely be split between several people.

5 days later and I have 25 above soil today. I expect a few more to come up above soil in the next few days but won't hold my breath in anticipation. These little suckers seem to grow faster than most seedlings I'm used to. They move fast.

Notice how there is about 1.5-2 inches on the top of each cup that was left unfilled with dirt. When the seedlings become too tall and threaten to fall over I will fill up the cups giving the seedlings the support they need until they become fully established in the cups. This trick will surely help in establishing healthy, stout seedlings.

Not sure I ever smoked it. If so, I don't remember. From what I've heard, it's supposed to be similar to the Blueberry except it is a heavier producer.

Unfortunately however, the Grape Krush is no longer in production and no longer being offered by Old World Genetics.

Highly unfortunate! The Krush sounded most appealing to me, and was on my list. I appreciated the facts of OWGenetics distribution policy you shared in another thread here JD, it had not occurred to me that the seeds through purveyors may not be verifiable, and the inflated pricing. Anyhoo, I'm really enjoying these runs with older seeds you're doing. Thanks for sharing.

Approximately 4th week above soil today. Plants were moved to a 600 wt m.h yesterday from an 8 bank T-5. They are at 19 on and 5 off. They are on their 4th to 6th nodes of growth. There is minimal to no purpling.

I have 18 plants that are in 2 gallon pots and 32 days above ground today. They were topped for back-up clones 6 days ago and transferred from a 600 wt MH to a 600 wt HPS and switched into flower yesterday. They've been fed twice. Once at the 18th day above ground and again at the 26th day above ground.
