I'm sold!
Ordered the Beeswax and will have to also figure out some additions of essential oils for the smell.
I also ordered a digital thermometer to test liquids.

Updating some results as a newbie to this.

I described the 1st two raw bud treatments above.

Two more treatments were also with raw material. Won't be doing it with raw material anymore :).

3rd treatment I decarbed the buds and did not rub it in as well so I really can't say why but the 3rd treatment showed little or no benefit. Could be something I did wrong.

The 4th treatment I went with a larger quantity than the previous times. About 4 grams. Did not decarb and rubbed this one in more thoroughly and it was to much. Worked great for the pain but got into her system and she had that uncomfortable experience as others have described. Not sure how to explain it, maybe like a couchlock physical experience IDK.

I made two batches so far with the crock pot set on low.

1st time about 10 grams of bud and one cup of coconut oil and cooked it for about 12 hours. It came out pretty weak.

Second batch was made with one cup of cocunut oil, one cup of water and about 18 grams of decarbed buds for about 7 hours. color is much darker. I noticed a constant bubbling when I would stir while cooking with the water added. Dark water seperated nicely from the hardened oil after sitting in the fridge over night.

I have a long way to go as a newb to this. Busy tending to my solo cups in the grow challenge lol. I'll be happy if this second batch shows a better result. Planning on increasing weed and water next time while maybe using a smaller amount of coconut oil IDK.
Here are a few pictures.

Quite gooey.

I'm not sure how it should appear after cooking but this second batch of material looks better to me IDK.

I will!
Need to test the 2nd batch.
Even if it is still weak I'm hoping it is an improvement over the 1st batch.
If it is still weak I'll increase the ratio of weed to oil and water.

Still not sure if I should decarb before cooking in the crockpot.
I have been trying to read up and I think some decarb and some do not.
Might need to try both just not sure which one 1st.

the decarb issue is discussed in the following thread. i am still not certain on transdermal use.

sunflower oil is also recommended for transdermal use.

coconut oil is great in edibles and glycerin for sublingual(under tongue) use.

i may try to substitute sunflower oil in place of coconut oil next time.

My last two batches have been excellent.

3/4 oz buds.
1 cup coconut oil.
1 3/4 cup water.

1st I slow cook the weed and coconut oil and water for 8 hrs on low in a slow cooker stirring occasionally.

Then after it cools in the fridge I add the beeswax and lemon as an essential oil using a pot sitting inside a larger pot that has boiling water in it.
Love the lemon as an essential oil.

i am gonna use this
That should work well. I get sporadic lower back pain from time to time and rub fresh habanero pepper on the area, which can be painful, but it eventually settles down to a nice warming effect that helps make the pain more manageable. I'll have to try making a balm with some herb and habs and see how that works.
