Thanks for the feedback, electrical thing are not my thing, but I was under the impression that you could turn down the amps and voltage with the 2 adjustment
screws on the top of the driver?? Or do I have things fucked up as normal?

You could do that but it seems like a waste to me to have such a big driver dimmed to 50-60% all the time.

Again I must have things assbackwards, I thought that the two screws were to adjust the driver
to what amp/voltage to accommodate your cob's? Im slow on the electron front, got a D in Aero
Math, but an A Aero Meterials/sheetmetal, in other words, I can build an airframe by hand, but don't know how wire the MF.
Let me go back to a Grow light for a 3'X3'X8', I have 4 29-2's @5000K, what would be a good dimable driver for this?
For the Grow light, I have 3'X6'X10'H area, what driver/s to run 2--3'X3" with 6?/9? V-29-2's 3500K
per light, already have 4, dimable, the plants will be tall regular seed, like Mandala Seeds, Satori.
Maybe driven a little bit hard, Thanks.

I have placed an order for 5 of those (min order) and a meanwell driver. $255 plus shipping. Will wait for reply from them. Probably be £200 in total for better equipment so much appreciation for the heads up

If you want only 4 cxb 3590 it is ok with kb.no need to buy 5!
You gonna need 4 holder for the cxb, unless you plan to solder!?
Why don't you buy a h.s? (45 €)
And if you can wait 2weeks for.the cob it is 10$ shipping with china post option!
As for the driver a hlg is 70 €

@robincnn Thanks for the reflector suggestion. I saw that @Growmau5 was using those reflectors in one of his awesome fixtures. As it stands I am gong to go with the Mean Well HLG-120H-C1400B, to provide roughly 50w to each 3070. As for the heatsink I am going to go with passive cooling(I don't like the fan noise). Ive been getting quotes from a few Chinese distributors but I am potentially spending about $80 a piece on a 5.5'x6"x1" long heatsink. I found some really cheap heatsink here they have several sizes from small all the way up to a 4'x5.5"x.8" which they have rated as up to 50x3w or 1x 140w passive for around $60 a piece shipped. Nothing is set in stone but this will likely be my build.
Are you going with CXAor CXB 3070's?

700mA LPC-20-700 & APC-35-700
1400mA LPC-60-1400 (Little higher voltage though)
There are probably some cheaper ebay options and some people on here have successfully used many of them including @SupraSPL

Thank you. Yes, I was thinking of something "chinese", that is cheaper and more efficient at the same time. I recall such drivers exist. Would you help me out, @SupraSPL?

So I got my lights hooked up and working, 2 heat sinks 5.88" x 19" with 2 cobs on each(3590 3500k 36v) being run by HLG-185H-C1400.

My question is how hot should the heatsinks be? I touched for a few seconds and they are really hot, just wondering what I should be observing if any thing.
Just wanted to give an update on my heat concerns on this build. After 2 days the heat is barely noticeable to the touch. I never had to add any fans. I think my mistake was not giving the thermal paste enough, ( OK any) time to cure. I was so excited to see if the light would work I forgot about letting the paste setup. I am using ideal cob holders and prolimatech pk3 thermal paste and all is good now.

I have one 120mm fan on each h.s @6v.if you can use it without fans, I am going to lower my fan speed and be less stressed by a fan failure.(I have nothing to take temperature and needed to be sure.)

my Heatsinks have 14 fins each and the overall height is a 1.25 inches or 31.75 mm

Did I do the math? heck no that's what Supra's for,lol

I have 4 running on the 1 driver at 49 watts each(I guess), have a potentiometer hooked up and am running it at the highest setting, so I guess thats full power.

I think I read 48 hours is the recommended time for the thermal paste to cure.

All I know is when I first hooked the lights up right after installing the cobs, holders and pk3 paste, I put the back of my hand in the middle of the heatsink and could only keep it there for 3 or 4 seconds it was so hot, it's been 5 days now and I can leave my hand on the heat sink for as long as I want, it's just barely warm.

So letting the thermal paste cure for a couple of days or more is probably wise.

If I need to power 3 x 12v 0.25ma pc fans. What's my best option? How powerful a driver would I need

It is expensive just for 3 fans...
Do you really need 12V? Why not an old phone charger? Or a dimmable 12V(1A) universal charger (6, 50 €) it worked just fine! And easy to find at a local store!
