You mean they measure 68V .51A with the generic LEDs as the load? If the sticker is correct and they can go up to 90V then they are a good match for CXB3590.
Yes 68V for generic china leds, but there were about 21-23 3w-led in series with each other.

Why would I ever need to run 90V though? The two models for the CXB3590 operate at 36V and 72V respectively yes? I am under the impression that these COBS work based around a constant current, and varying voltage, AS LONG AS the forward voltage is initially met.

Wouldn't i be ruining my efficiency running a CXB3590 at 90V & .51 amps?

Could/should I put some 3w chips in series to drop that voltage down a bit?

Is it like this...

Power supply > Led driver > led chips?

If I just use a 12v power supply like a computer can I user a lesser amperage than the overall leds use?

The 3590s will draw something in the range of 69-70Vf. Not suggesting it would run at 90V, just suggesting that you can't always trust what is on the stickers sometimes you have to check the real range and output.

Hello guys,
Im trying to plug the drivers to the wall, i want to plug the fan drivers and the LED drivers together into the same wago connectors and then plug into this connectors the cable that goes to the wall. I should plug them in paralel, i understand the voltage should be the same and they would take the amperes they need, right?
Some pictures, all the same color cables from the drivers go into one connector, the others go to another connector, and the cable that connects them to the wall distributed the same way, there is a ground cable too that i will attach together with the wall plug.

Hi all,

I'm in the processing of building my DIY project, a very simple one for the moment, 1 MW HLG-185H-C1050B and 2 Vero29 4000K COB. Next month i will add 2 more Vero29 on the same driver.
My question is, is it safe to allready run my panel with only 2 Vero29 on the driver ? The panel is currently running for testing purpose but i found that the driver is quite hot, too hot to handle it easily.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I just ordered four cxa3590 5000k cobs for vegging. I'm thinking of running it at 700ma, what drivers will be good for them? I was thinking of going those passive heat sinks with a fan on them...however the maximum size heat sink is 350mm x 150.1mm x 48mm 33 fins cost about $50 for each.

The heatsink can be found below under MF-35 series at 150.1mm length.

Wondering how much can these heatsink handle with a fan on them. Room temps are about 18-21c

No problem to run just two as long as all the connections are secure. I have a theory that COBs can die more easily from overvoltage when a low Vf load is connected to a constant current driver that is capable of very high voltage. So you just don't want any connections that crackle when moved. Of course that is always important but moreso in this case.

The driver should not be running hot with 2 COBs if it is in the open air, is it in a place with no airflow? That said, it is rated to operate at a case temp of up to 90C but I like to give them some air and even when fully loaded they can stay under 50C.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I will double check all my wiring and connections. Normaly they should be okay, i've only use "screw block connector" we call it "a sugar" here in Belgium, i don't know the english word for it.
About the driver, it's out of the grow tent in the open air but it's really hotter than my others drivers (drivers from Hans Panel 80W). I just placed a home fan in front of it, i hope it will help. My grow room is quite hot for the moment, about 78.8°F (26° celsius), and i can't run an AC unit.

I was worried about some risks of failure of the driver because i use it "out of his range" (95 - 190V) and my 2 Vero29 only need 76.4V (2*38.2V).

Anyway, thanks again for taking time to help me. It's greatly appreciated.

Hello ladies and gents~

I'm slapping together a lamp with some of the v2 Vero18s and was reminded quickly how challenged I am when it comes to wiring my setup.

I'd like to wire my fan driver and my LED driver to the same power cord but I'm oblivious as to what type of adapter would accommodate such a thing. Sort of what Pantar is asking, except I'll be running my COBs in series.

Your replies are greatly appreciated~

hey guys I want to start growing in my closet. Its 3.5' x 2'. Any suggestions for a DIY setup? How many cobs for that space? Does anybody run these cxb3070s or 3590s at close to their max wattage?

For CREE cobs that would defeat much of the purpose, as efficiency would be lower or equal to hps, but with higher upfront costs ...

But if its about lighting properly a specific/unusual shaped area, not caring much about $$$, then go for it I guess, better than CFL for sure ;)

Edit : If you want to drive them hard, I beleive the smart choice is to go with the Vero's.
... but I don't look much into them .. my eyes are all on the CXB's:hump:

MW HLG-185H-C1400B + 4x Cree CXB3070 AB is good price/performance ratio and would fit your space @~13PAR W/sqft or ~650 µmol/s/m^2. Or if you want to get the maximum out of your space, you can get this setup twice to double the values to ~26PAR W/sqft or ~1300 µmol/s/m^2. Could also be dimmed and doesn't have to run at max all the time.
