DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

I know it's all in thy threads and posts here, I am going to ask though.

For about $100, how quality of a LED Light would I be able to build? Or am I even anywhere near what the actual cost might be? Let me know, thank you.

you could build a cree 3070 at 3000K bin Z2 for that money
Or save just a little more and build two or three. All the little tools and supplies to build these add up over time. Once you have all that you can get the leds and drivers relatively inexpensive

i built a bridgelux vero 29 for around $100.

the VERO 29 cob- $30
meanwell driver- $45
heat sink- $10
fan driver- $20 at radio shack

fan driver you can get at radio shack. the fan is rated for 12v DC, 250ma. i found a driver that does 12v @ 300mA for $20

only other things you need are connectors and a plug, you can solder
instead of buying connectors if you already have a solder kit. self tapping
screws work for mounting the LED to the heat sink, which comes with pre
applied thermal grease.

Thank you for such an awesome post man. That's within my range, and how many watts does your led draw and how much output total? I'm pretty sure I could put together a light I would be happy about.

i'm study a new lamp with 6 CXA3070 Z4, I must set to output in total 400W,
66.6 Watt each, i think at 1.7 Amp.
I do not know what is best to do if a power supply for each set of 3, or use separate power supplies.
in any case, which power supply would you recommend in the two different situations?

I have see this driver:

21 ~ 42V / 5.72A / 240.24W
it's possible to drive in series 3xCXA3070 Z4 and adjusted through internal potentiometer to run near 1.7A for each COB for max 200w in total?Meanwell-HLG-240W.jpg

Separate power supplies would be the way to go imo. It may prove to be a cheaper alternative also.

but if I connect 3x3070 Z4 at one HLG-185H-C1400, I can at best make them go to 1.4A each therefore a maximum of 55.22W ? Is that right?
or is it possible that they could go a little more? my problem is always to go at 400W with 6x3070 with a reasonable solution for cabling and power supplies.
the lamp should be set to 400 even with a fixed internal adjustment

Would people be into 4000K AD's??? I'm going to pick some up...but will go bigger if they are a wanted/needed item by enough people.
