DIY led grow

Geez I just read all this shit. I have no idea who chief monkey is. I've been kind of mia around here for a min until last week. Anyway I personally know the guys at Amare. I dont think they have anything to do with this troll. The main owner lives in Vietnam with his son. His partner / best friend is about 90 min from me . He does the light thing on the side. He actually fabricates custom autoparts for auto racing for a living. He is also a mechanic on a racing team. Where his girlfriend is one of the drivers.

There's several things we can do to fuck this guy over if he tries anything. I'll put the fear of God in him if need be. Make him scared and run and hide.

You can have him locked up. Any kind of death threat is classified under a terrorist threat......

I'm cool with you. I voted for you the last 2 cup comps lol

I have tangled with monkey chief, for unknown reasons is really pushing amare. much more than usual for a grower, and as far as I know he hasn't shown anything growing, just comes in and pushes people around. kind of like a belligerent peanut gallery

Salmonetin, those graphite tim look interesting. They would be easier and less messy than using paste with the crees. Have you tried them?

Here's a LINK for their EU branch. Perhaps you can ask them what they recommend.

Perhaps when you call you can ask them.

It will be interesting to hear what they recommend. When I built my light I was a bit anxious about the proper way of using thermal grease and in fact asked here for advice on that. An adhesive thermal pad that approaches the heat transfer quality of properly applied thermal grease would be a real boon to DIY builders. No worries on doing it right and an easy cost effective solution. I'm looking forward to finding out what you learn.

Thermal grease is easy. Put down a dab, squish the cob down and slide it around a bit to get the paste all spread out. My only one to burn up was because I didn't attach the kapton tape well enough to hold the led on

Folks this is my first run with this setup and only my 2nd time w cobs. I added 4 3590, 3500k to my optic360 16 days ago. Plants seem to love it. I did a shitty job establishing an even canopy.

The destroyer i'm growing is stretching like crazy. Root are completely grown through the base of the 5 gal i had her in. I put her pot inside another 1/3 full, 5 gal. It's a 10 week strain min that make chop about 7 weeks away.

In the pic you can see 2 lenses on the optic. I removed those. I lowered the light on the side where stretch wasn't an issue. Does that make sense? I used a cheap lux meter and found there is a big range like 400-1100 But with the 10-12 inch height difference I'm not sure I can do better.

Question: Those small unknown cuts are from a good mom but they got screwed up when I put them outdoors after being under 18/6 CFL. They went to flower back in June. I left them out side, stripped off the flowers they initiated and they reverted to veg. I brought them back inside under 11/13 and they are flowered up petitely but fully. Im wondering if it makes sense to be giving up the valuable real estate when they have been through a few changes and might not end up being worthwhile. I don't care much if they are shy yielders but if they aren't top quality I would be disappointed. It would be a catastrophe if they booty popped my girls though I don't see anything suspicious at all. Take a look at the excellent flowering response on those 2. (2 cuts in a single 2 gal)

I appreciate any observations, suggestions, feedback etc.(is that foxtailing from heat or SST)

Again many thanks for the generosity of LED diy folks

some ideas for the peeps interested in putting their own stuff together. Goes together fast and easy like this...self explanatory. Wish I could detail it out but I need to limit my internet time for more mind healing...lol

specs are hazy..parts been sitting around

hlg 120c...1a...something like that..
5.8 heatsink usa...ditto..see above
5k 3590 DB...oslon 660..
bud industries box..size?? measure and find one that works..

115w draw. Best veg grow light in the world...super spectrum. 10oz dry....just kidding in case you think I'm serious..

Reflectors came off since the friend has a tiny area...

IMG_0024.jpg

fan came off too since he has a fan mounted at the top of cab. Gets too hot for me passive...it is tapped for a fan and the driver box has the fan hookup in case he needs it.

The driver also got a lot hotter than I expected so I put a small fan on the lid. All the components are happy now.

Some listening music from the renewed old stash..

peace out all

I know supra says not to power a driver without an led load, but what happens? I plugged in one of mine and nothing happened. Took it off and redid the wires. Plugged it in and gave a faint glow and then nothing. Not sure if I fried the driver or the led or both.

...thanks a lot for sharing your diy.... i like your lamps... but i noticed you dont use your driver box on the junction box way... i know lot of diy lamps dont use the simple junction box solution... for protect connections (junctions) from water or humidity... normally we use electrical tape or thermal srink tubes....
...but with a driver box a bit large you can put all the connections inside... or use a small external box for junction box uses... ...on this way Every Connection shall be Easy Accessible for Full Inspection, Testing and Maintenance proposites....

https://www.hager.co.uk/files/download/0/2801_1/0/Guide_to_Junction_Boxes.pdf

...or similar to...

JunctionsBoxesHLG.JPG

...links..pic or vid are only for examples or ideas...

...normal junction box...maybe with screwless terminals similar wago connnector or simple electrical external box with wagos or similars inside....

...with Junction Boxes... Every Connection shall be Easy Accessible for Full Inspection, Testing and Maintenance proposites...

...i know your connections are well protected... i just give you my personal POV... you know i like the external Control Box (Control Box outside from tent... maybe helped with small / medium size Junction Box inside the tent)...i live in hot zone... control box out of tent for help to deal with high ambiental temps...

...i hope my posts dont break your mind healing too much...

...my best wishes for you and your family... positive vibra for you...
