Looks good mate great thinking. Your design got me thinking. mmm. That thing looks just like a furnace humidifier. The nice thing about that is it already has the tumbler with a motor on it. And a removable tray under it. I think I will try that. Thanks for the idea. Cheers.
hell yeah, thats a great idea. let me know how it works out if ya try it.

Wow that's a cool little mechanism you got there.
thanks. i enjoy it a lot.

ran some trim today. here are some shots. there is Sour OG, Querkle, Black Domina, The Flav and Blackberry trim and bud in there. its some very tasty stuff. ran it for about 25 minutes and got 5.2 grams..loaded up about a gram in my bowl half way through :bigjoint:..the trim leaf still has a bunch of crystals on it so i threw it all back in the freezer for a later date.

do u use all the trimmings u get? or just the ones from the colas with the trichs all over them...and are stems and branches good for any ?

thanks man. yeah my first couple batches of bubble hash turned out kinda green too...i learned not to break up the material so much and that helped a lot....but i still never really liked the taste so i quit making bubble and went to dry sift.

when i trim my buds, if i see crystals anywhere on anything, i chop it up and put it in the hash bin. stems included...i just chop them up into 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces. when i trim, i sit down with 2 bowls. one bowl catches all the dead leaves or parts of leaves that dont have crystals and that gets thrown out...and the other bowl catches all the good stuff with crystals on it and that sets out til its dry and then i throw it in the freezer until im ready to make hash.

it depends on the plant, some plants only have crystals close to the buds on the smaller sugar leaves and some plants (like chocolope and qrazy train) have crystals on every inch of the plant, stems included....i waste no crystals :)

i actually never made bubble either , i put the trimmings in a bowl of ice and blend it with a mixer till it melts down to water.then i strain that and refrigerate the liquid that comes from it.after a half hour u see all the hash collected at the bottom.then i draw all the water out with a syringe and dry and scrape..:bigjoint:

and yeah i figured that u just used the sparkly leavs .cool man thanks for the info

Very efficient idea, I love it. Thanks for the great idea, I am definitely making a scaled down version of this!

Throw a handful of clean pennies in the tumbler with the weed when you get ready to make another batch. The pennies knock more trichs off and increase your yield.

I've been using similar sized mesh over the mouth of a plastic quart storage jar for years. I put a half ounce of weed in the jar, throw in about 10-15 pennies, stretch the mesh over the mouth and screw on the lid. Then I shake the jar while turning it in my palms.

The first shake is gentle and short,a couple of minutes. That run is the best hash, very fine, laying in the lid and clinging via static to plastic sides of the jar.

Scrape it carefully out with a moistened finger and put it the container of your choice. Repeat the shaking cycles/removal cycles until no more trichs come through the screen. I get 2 1/2 -3 grams of hash per ounce of weed.

Of course,I use bud and leaf. The leftover weed is good for bong hits or cooking.

If you use something like pennies, nickles, small nuts.etc.... as an agitator in that tumbler, you should see your yields go way up.

Why not ditch the handle and connect the shaft directly to the chuck on a portable drill? That's what we did with our grains mills when I was in the homebrew supply biz. Go lighter on the agitation medium, say small light aluminum washers, and go easy on the speed the first couple of times until you get the hang of using the drill for powering the thing.

BTW,that's a great design. I've got a couple of chunks of 1/4 inch plexiglass out in the shed doing nothing. Hmmmm...............

Yeah, you'd have to watch your speed. Too high and you'd turn the tumbler into a centrifuge and spin the kief in all directions.

well i finally added a motor..it moves a bit slower than i would have liked but imo, the slow speed works out much nicer cuz all the kief lands in on main spot instead of kinda spread all over...also, i dont get ANY plant matter at all now, before after a few runs some green would start to come through. i let it run for almost a week straight, i was getting between 1.5 and 3.5 grams out of it every 24 hours and no plant matter what so ever. works fucking awesome.

i just bent some sheet metal into a simple bracket, then drilled some holes and bolted it on. then i cut the handle off and ground down the end of the rod into a square so it would fit in the motor and there ya have it. very simple. took me about 20 minutes to make the bracket and mount the motor.

Where did you get the motor?

A very nice piece of machinery you've created there....you've got me inspired.

Gotta go look for parts....lol

Fantastic! Thank you for sharing!
thanks for stoppin in.

Just this picture alone deserves a sticky. I think there should be a sticky with a colection of this grade shit on it.
lol thanks bro. i go for cheap, easy and effective in all my project builds. ;)

thanks man, hope you build on...i fuckin love mine. been runnin it with some green queen x querkle and grape stomper bx trim/bud for at least 10 days now, about 2.5 oz of material total. i got 4.5 grams each day for 2 days...since then ive been gettin less and less each day but i'm still gettin around a half gram of hash everyday...and still no plant material comin through. :)

i upgraded the silk screen to stainless steel screen since the silk was starting to wear out and it was leaving silk hairs in my hash..here is the link for where i got my screen http://www.ebay.com/sch/bbabas853/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

and here is the link for the motor, its a home depot motor so im sure you can pick one up there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Home-Depot-Vermont-Casting-Gas-Grill-Rotisserie-Motor-/120829918530?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c22063d42#ht_1177wt_698

i've been looking into using a dc motor and speed controller like someone mentioned in here earlier. the slow motor i have works great for material that hasnt been ran before cuz it doesnt disturb the trim too much and that first bit of hash that comes out is fuckin primo...but as it runs longer and has less trichs left to screen out, i'd like to speed the motor up to increase output speed. i'm also in the process of building a new box and bigger screener tube so i can run more material at once. this new box will be built to look nice too this time ;) i'll also be gettin a mirror cut for my catch tray.

TO ANYONE WHO PLANS ON BUILDING ONE OF THESE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING A STAINLESS STEEL SCREEN. THE SILK SCREEN WILL EVENTUALLY BREAK DOWN AND LEAVE A LOT OF SILK HAIRS IN YOUR HASH!

Looks good. I went through the costs involved with making your own with a stainless steel mesh, while the stuff is not the cheapest thing given the micron size you're after, it can be sourced and built for a HELL of a lot cheaper than the £300 pre-built jobs that can be bought on the market. Just takes a bit of shopping around, first mesh supplier i found offering that micron wanted upto £500 a sheet, i looked elsewhere and was offered pretty much the same thing for about £70 a sheet, each sheet would have, based on my dimensions, done about 4 drums.
