Hey guys I just made a bubble cloner with 8 sites and finally after 11 days have roots (i think this was caused by low water temp) only question I have is how long should I let these roots get before going to soil 20171128_233635.jpg20171129_130151.jpg20171208_192400.jpg

When I had mine I let them get about three or so inches and it worked fine.
I figured a bit too long was better than to short. Plus once they pop they grow fast.
I'll be interested to see what others say.

Will it be ok if the roots touch the water when there that long, because at three inches they will definitely be in the water!

It ok if the roots grow into the water. Whether its 2" roots or 12" roots, they will all find water once transplanted into the soil. Just a matter of preference.

Maybe you know red,
I made one then bought one. Both worked perfectly then all of a sudden.
They no longer functioned.

Dude at the store said after a while the plastic starts breaking down and leaching some chemical that stops the rooting.

I tried everything including bleach

Any truth to this?

I've never heard this before. Cant say it sounds impossible though? Not implying this is what you are doing, but the times I noticed that my bubble cloner wasnt working as it should was when I was lax about my water maintenance. I have noticed that the plastic on the tote does seem to "break down" in a sense. I have white blotches and stress marks on the small plastic tote.
