I love this setup so you used 3 tubs and put the lights inside. Am I to think you used floresents that equilled 2700 ? I want to do this so bad. I've already built a carbon fiber and have fans from tons of computers. I think this would be good for my small apt. Do you take it apart every time you want to water it?

nice setup looks awesome.at home depot in the outdoor lighting section the sell 60,80,100 watt cfl's and they are not the equivilent ones either.those would probably double your yield.:blsmoke::joint:

MG soil works perfectly fine FDD uses it and he has badass grows. Just get MG moisture control. That carbon filter might be unneccesary look into TiO2 CFL's I hear they kill 100 percent of smell and also emit extra light for your grow. I have two coming in the mail so I will tell you about them when they get here.

I agree though your friend is a fg (what my O chem teach calls fucking geniouses). This is brilliant, cheap, and obviously produces. In 5 months I will be building one with those massive rubbermaids, hopefully no filter, low dB stealth computer 80mm fans and using 8 42 watt CFL's for flower.

Bad ass DIY thread!

Two thumbs up!

That would be a great way to get a small scale Sea of Green Op. 2-3 mothers and a DIY DWC could produce buds every two weeks! Not a lot for the space, but enough for a few people to keep supplied.

Try a DWC next time in the same box, let's see how much more you can squeeze out of there.

Hey, this set up looks awesome and almost inconspicuous.
When I do my first grow, I think I'll base it off of this.
My question is how did you water the plants?
And were they in individual pots?

Also as a side note, I'm really new to this stuff... I still don't understand what a DWC is and what AG stands for?

Thanks

deep water culture is a method of suspending a plant over a reservoir of nutrient solution with the roots dangling in it. the nutrient solution is oxygenated by bubbling air through it to stop the plant drowning. there is an almost limitless amount of designs and versions of this, but they all have the same principle. its one of the most simplest forms of hydroponics and its a tried and tested method that works well and is perfect for the beginner as its so cheap and simple with very little to go wrong

ya i have tin foil sheets in there its kinda sloppy i cant find mylar any god damn place around here!! I wish i could line it with mylar it would really help the light leaks..
I was munching some potato chips the other day and noticed that the inside of the bag was silver mylar, two square feet of Mylar ! These were Tims Cascade style chips , don't know if other brands use the same or not , but it is free , and you get to eat some tasty chips in the process .

both the original poster and myself use those emergency blankets to line the inside they are in the sportign goods department at walmart and are about 2.00 each one should be more than enough to line both of the tubs

i did a few hours of research on dwc following enigma's posts and i've been turned on to scrog by the many fans of the technique. my question is, could this setup be adapted for a scrog dwc? is the dwc growth too explosive for such a small space with or without a screen?
