determining ppm

How do i determine how much nutes to add. My tap water is 180 ppm and i have to significantly lower my ph and end up with 400-450 ppm before adding any nutes. So say i need 1200 ppm of nutes do I add till i read 1200 or do i need to add my initial reading to be accurate?

i had the same thread and everyone told me that u just add till u reach 1200 the water counts in the measaurement and if u want to add more nutes then u will have better water to start with. hope it helps try using stronger ph down so u wont have to add so much also check my thread its my 1st grow also.

I figured this too the guy at the hydro store said the fox farm stuff should get it closer to my target ph
My Fox farm nutes keep my pH closer to 5.5 and it's a fight to keep it higher. I wonder if I should even be concerned. On the FF website they say their hydro nutes"... are easily absorbed in lower pH ranges." Lower pH helps prevent rood rot and such. What's not to love?
