Dehumidifier?

I have a small dehumidifier in my closet grow room but I don't hear much talk on the forums about these. I have even read some posts where it seems humidity is fine. Is a dehumidifier necessary in your grow room?

it depends on the average humidity of your room, I run a dehumidifier because my grow room is in my basement and the humidity is 60-80pct on average and will go higher on really humid days, the dehumidifier brings it down to the 40-50pct range (you should have a humidity meter)

What I am wondering is if it is ok to use the water for a hydroponic system. I have read a HUGE range of opinions but while the majority say its bad I have read a few articles from pro's that said its fine as long as you put the proper nutrients and ph balancers in it and make sure it doest accumulate too much copper ppm.

You want high humidity for vegetative and low for flowering. High humidity allows the plant to grow thicker, healthier leaves and stems and the lower humidity during flowering prevents mold in buds. RH should be from 50-85% in veggie and below 40% during flower. So use the dehumidifier while your plants are budding.

I have so far never had a problem with humidity (or maybe i have and i don't know about it) I have never had mold or anything. I used the same closet to dry my buds as I did to grow them. All I used was a large fan. (no fan or on low during drying) I don't think a dehumidifier is really necessary unless you are doing a big grow or are really trying to do everything proper. Or like the first guy said, if you have a humidity problem, ie a basement. Just look for sweat on the walls, if there is sweat or it feels damp in there, probably need a humidifier lol.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm going to take the dehumidifier out for now and put it back in once I start the plant on flowering. I got confused and put the dehumidifier in there because I read that low humidity causes the buds to create more resin - I should have differentiated between vegging and budding.
