Dehumidifier suggestions

I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for a dehumidifier to put inside a 5x5 tent. The dehumidifier needs to have a turn on above ?% humidity and off below ?% humidity. Lighting needs to be able to be taped or turned off. WiFi app monitoring ability would also be a bonus.

Please post what you use inside your tent. Dehumidifier doesn't need a big reservoir as long as it can also have a drainage tube attached to drain outside of tent.

It's generally better to put the dehumidifier in the lung room rather than inside the tent.
You're environment will dictate how effective a dehuey will be inside the tent.

Agree with @Billy the Mountain — lower RH in the lung room and "add water" in the grow space.

My grow is a 2' x 4' tent in a garage in SoCal. I run a large Waykar dehu in the garage and a small AC Infinity humidifier in the tent. The idea is to run the dehu to get the RH a little lower than I need and then use Hugh to bump up the RH as needed to keep VPD where I want it. My thinking was that is that it takes a lot longer to drop RH than to increase it and it works really well.

While we're on that topic, AC Infinity equipment has allowed me to setup a very stable grow environment. For VPD, I use their Controller 69 to control the humidifier and one of their heaters. My garage stays in a range of predictable temps, so that helps, but the AC Infinity equipment (I also use their oscillating fan and their inline fan) has allowed to keep my grow at optimal VPD levels from start to finish. I may have $350 of their gear in my tent and it's made a world of difference. With a much larger tent, you'll need bigger equipment (same controller) but if I was setting up a new grow, that's who I'd turn to.

Their stuff isn't perfect — I cleaned Hugh today, and when I got it back in the tent, it didn't fire up. My humidifier is their "Generation 1" model. I called for tech support and, even though I was a month out of warranty, they're sending me their Gen 2 model. They redesigned some of their products based on consumer feedback and the Ten 2 stuff is more robust.

I'm running all ac Infinity except the lighting. (Humidifier, fans, exhaust & intake fans, outlet etc) I'm running the 5x5 ac Infinity tent. So just buy a big enough one to drop the entire rooms rh level and let the intake just pull it in. Guess that would lower the on time of the exhaust/intake.

So in a nutshell
Drop rooms Rh below my desires tent level
Let intake/exhaust pull in lower Rh air
Let the ac humidifier adjust it to where it needs to be.

Or just Rh the room to desired tent Rh and not worry about the humidifier adjusting the Rh.

You have excellent taste in grow tent gear!

A big driver is having control over your grow environment or, like me, doing your best to influence it.

If you can "set it and forget it", that's great. If you can't, then it works out better to use the big room as an RH "buffer". That's why I went with option 1. The Waykar gets RH to 45 or 50 and the Controller 69 toggles the humidifier on and off to keep VPD at the desired value. I can change the RH in the tent in a few seconds and that ability to respond quickly is one of the advantages to using this approach when the outside weather changes significantly.

I'm dealing with that right now. Southern California gets "Santa Ana" winds that blow in from the East, over the desert, instead of from the West, over the Pacific. For today and tomorrow, temps will be 80 and RH will drop to 30's in the day time but will be 70's at night. Two days from now, it'll be 64 and 60%. The humidifier can add the required % of RH to the tent (64 cubic feet in my tent, 25x6? = 150 in your case) in a matter of minutes. No way could any dehumifier impact RH like that so quickly. It's much easier to raise RH (pumping mist into the air) than running that air through a dehu.

My tent is in a 20' x' 20' garage and I'm using a Waykar dehumidifier from the 'Zon. I haven't used any other dehu so I can't compare and contrast but it's worked fine for three years. The big selling point for me was that it's tall and slender and it has an easy to use drain hose feature. If I was buying a dehu now, I'd look for one that was WiFi because almost everything else I have is Wifi (I've been a software engineer since the early 90's so I'm comfortable with tech) and it makes life so much easier.

My frigidaire 35 pint still going strong a year later heavy use. Holds a good amount of water. Wouldnt hesitate to buy a new one when this goes. 50dba, not very loud IMO. Drops humidity very quick.

I was being lazy so I purchased

drove it home slow and upright so I didn't have to let it sit for a day before using.

only had it on less than an hour and room Rh is stable and more importantly tent Rh is now stable.
