I guess my only comment is, regarding the link he posted, he shows his plants 4 days later with unheard of bud growth for that short of time. It appears to me the 2nd pic with the buds much more formed- seems to be at least 7-10 days later, not 4. I'm trying to keep an open mind, but that alone is raising alarm bells. Everything else may be true, but such growth only 4 days later is truly hard to believe.

I'm guessing this approach works much better for sativa's........for a number of reasons.

I figure a fully seeded plant weighs on the order of a third more than an unseeded plant. That's a lot of mass that is not normally going to be produced. Therefore, the plant doesn't need all those fan leaves. Despite that fact, wholesale defoliation is a bad idea. What you want to do is start stripping off some of the light blocking fan leaves later in flower stage. The idea is to get light down to the lower buds and help their development which will then increase your total yield. This is of greatest benefit in a tightly packed indoor grow. Commercial growers routinely employ the technique and for good reason.

Wow ... I must have missed the show ! LOL

Is it really that Hard to answer questions without the bashing ?

Isn't every grow question ALREADY been asked at some point ?
I look at it much simpler ( no caffeine after 5pm ) but seriously the point of this forum is to HELP growers move up to great grows.

Can't we just get along ? Fuckin hell , grab your bong and get mellow .

I like to chop almost everything off except for the last few leaves on the top, then I hit it hard and fast, give it half strength beaste bloom half strength maxsea mixed with half a cup molasses and it makes one huge bud. I Definlty recommend you give it a try if you like big big buds.

hear him say the buds are made of leaf lmfao nob ed
I guess its true in a sense because the calyx just holds the trichomes in place we are not getting high off green plant matter most of the buds if you look at it is leaf. Calyx, leaf and stem is what makes up a flower and honestly its starts as a leaf then blossoms to a bud the "leaf" doesn't just disappear.

"Light efficiency decreases with distance. The inverse squared light rule states that illuminance is inversely proportionate to the square of the distance from the light source.
Removing the largest area of photosynthesis that is closest to the light source simply to benefit smaller leaves growing out of the bud sites that are further away is not logical when growing indoors".(Smokinrav, 03.15.2002)

I'm hoping that's not what you consider to be "one huge bud"...no offence intended but that bud looks rather small, mediocre at best

It has to do with genetics mostly defol or not , not every plant is going to produce like that, nice buds though!! It made me think that any cannabis I ever got or got from a collective there never is a main cola in the bag because everyone knows there is a big stem down the middle of that bud. I rather have uniform sized nugs that I know are mostly bud not stem, growing to get that main cola unless its a SOG method is purely for looks in most cases thats why I always train my plants I never grow a main cola because no patients like it or you end up braking it down anyways. Just my 2 cents!

I know this been flogged to death
But I've been doing alota reading about it
Seen lota pics ect about it being a good idea

Now Iam asking for ppl who have actually done it full on defoilation during flower
Not just a little but alot
Like this guy suggests

I'd like to hear first hand experiences and pics if possible of what happened and if u think it's a good idea

This my situation I have a 1.2 by 1.2 by 2 metre tent
Now I veged a bit to long and my tents crowded as fuck in about 1 week humidity is going to be a massive issue and Iam thinking of giving the defoilation a go

Now I know solar panel ect
Foods stored in leaves ect

But the plant will still have leaves just not as much

So plz tell me what u think based on personal experience
This my tent sorry bad hps pic

I defoliate lower 1/4 of plant and any leaves blocking bud sites on upper canopy after the stretch around day 20/21. Do everything at once and youll be fine. If you lollipop do it a week before bloom so they can recover before you flip them and wait until they r done stretching before you remove large interior site blocking fan leaves.

Defoliation works well when done correctly!! Indicas respond well too defoliation, but I dont recommend it on sativa dominant strains because they typically have less leaves anyways and are much lankier to begin with. You really only need to do it to heave dense canopies when scrogging/trellising. If you have plenty of room and light penentration isnt an issue than defoliation isnt required. BOL
