Dealing With Stems and Leaves?

Well I didn't originally think about what to do with my stems and leaves when it comes time to harvest... I am growing indoors, and I don't know how to dispose of the trimmings. Smell is a huge concern so burning is probably out. Is there any way to control smell in a composter? Worm bin? Will the smell come up if I bury them in the ground?

When I used to compost, I was more worried about someone complaining about the compost stink than the weed smell. Of course I composted other stuff too.

Smell shouldn't be an issue if you compost or bury it.
So you think a tumbler compost barrel in my grow room wouldn't be a concern?

I double bag then in heavy bags and bury them in regular trash. I wouldn't recommend that if you're dealing with a large grow though.
Yeah, that's an option but I'm gonna keep that as my last option for sure. First grow so I'm paranoid as hell.

If you have a hot fire it doesn't smell.

Sad but I've heard of LEO's grabbing crap out of garbage and calling it usable material and adding it to your amount.

Dont compost in your room lol. Theres some guidlines when composting, I didn't follow them. I just threw a bunch of stuff in a large bin and sprayed water on it on the hot days. Sometimes it would literally cook, and it would smell pretty bad.

I think I might try this this time around. I just don't wanna have to worry about it. :/

But how hot is hot? And if I get busted I'm screwed anyways. Cops like to count EVERYTHING towards your weight. They'll count the soil and the lights in your weight so you're guaranteed the maximum charge.

for fire? I dunno, after its been burning a little while. Don't put wet plants on a fire that was just started basically or it will smolder and stink, a lot. If the smoke is going straight up high, theres a lot of heat, if its billowing around and smoke is drifting not so good.

Would letting the leaves dry help them smell less and burn easier?

Alright I decided to go with rob's method since it seems like there's not much that could go wrong.

Not that I don't trust you guys, but there's a lot of room for error on MY end with burning, and I'm dumb enough to mess it up for sure.

Well I guess I'm gonna go for about 1 foot down and mix it with some random other plant waste. Little bit of the lime you recommended and we'll see what happens!

Depending on how much plant matter you've got to get rid of, you could dry it by loosely filling paper grocery bags and closing the tops of the bags. Doesn't have to be sealed, just folded over. Let the leaves dry for a few days in a cool dry secure place, then open the bag and try to crumble up the leaves. When they dry enough, they'll crumble up into a powder, then you can scatter the remains over grass or burn it like Cannasutra mentioned.
