Day 68 - Could I harvest in 4 days?

Ya, I was thinking of the 24 hours dark. In a couple hours the light is suppose to turn on. I might unplug it and harvest tomorrow.

I just checked the trichomes on several different buds. Some have about 10% amber, others less. I think I will wait 3 days and harvest Tuesday. That will give be 16 days to dry/cure before I leave for my trip.

Your about 95% of the way there from what i can tell with flash. If your in desperate need to harvest now then you can, but your three day plan above sounds right

In the 1970s, Dr Carleton Turner at the University of Mississippi found that there was a variation in the amount of THC in a sample, depending upon the time that the plant was taken. The most potent point was just before dawn after nighttime darkness.

Then, in 2000, Dr Paul Mahlberg of Indiana University showed that THC was produced extracellularly, on the inside of the glandular membrane, which would allow for its daily recycling.

The idea of using a dark period to increase THC before harvest warrants some investigation. An extended dark period right before harvest might very well increase THC content. I have done a couple of grows this way (24 / 48 hour ) I could not compare or test this experiment . I guess it's like letting a piece of meat " rest " after cooking it.

I agree with cutting before lights on (dawn) due to starch build up.

That study was not done on a plant left in darkness for 24/48 hours without the ability to photosynthesize.

Is that the same Carlton Turner who wants cannabis to be illegal and linked it's use to homosexuality?

The study didn't use that 24/48 dark time . I did that on my own 2 finishing strains. In my own grow I threw them into straight dark prior to chop. However I still chopped " early " in morning.

It really didn't seem to change anything noticeable , but have found using UVB at finish provided a more sticky resinous plant. ( I fired up the UVB 3 days prior to chop , then put in dark for at least 24 hours. ) much better result.

I've tested it myself as well with cuts off the same plant. I didn't notice a discernible difference between the plant I kept on a normal light schedule and the one I gave darkness. If there is a difference, its something that you'd need lab equipment to test and like you, I didn't notice a difference either.

I've been wanting to test out adding UVB light, I've been told by quite a few people that actually does work.

Oh and about Carlton Turner, he was Reagan's drug Czar and is an activist against legalized marijuana. Some things he claims are that Marijuana weakens your immune system, has more cancer causing chemicals than Tobacco and also leads to homosexuality and ulitimately AIDS.
