Admittedly, I was carrying about double what I a licensed to in my own state...(had 5oz) But damn...

Class 4 felony, no prior convictions, and IL is a medical approved state, but does not accept other states licensing.... Got the public defender, will be discussing case with him Monday...

Anyone whos been thru similar, especially in IL, feel free to chime in on how fucked you think I am....

I am hoping like hell I can get it knocked down to being over limit, n drop to a misdemeanor conviction... but no idea if theres any hope to that.... Mostly just needed to bitch about it to ppl who understand, lol...

Sorry to hear that man. Next time make those fuckers come to you instead of going to meet them. How did they get into your trunk to find it?

In the end:

2yr probation, which they transferred to MI, where my medical license excludes THC on my drug tests, and nullifies any need for drug counseling/addiction classes. PO says show up every 2 months, n expect to be off within 12-16 months...

All in all given my lifestyle... that means no change. :)

First time offender added to the plea, so upon successful completion of probation, it comes off my record.

All in all, I feel I came out pretty well.

I think a lot of people seem to have gotten complacent on the laws. You should be lucky you have a medical card and its completely legal for you to do what you do in your state. Its still 100% illegal in my state. Hearing stories like this just make me shake my head in disbelief. Sucks you got popped but you should really appreciate what you have. A lot of people on here seem to have forgoten that there are still a lot of us in "unfriendly" states. If I was legal to carry any amount, I wouldn't carry anything over that without knowing my consequences. I don't know if I should have any sympathy for you or not dude.

glad to hear it came out ok for you, what a petty bunch of shit any way, all over 5 oz of pot? I feel for you and especially those like DirtyMcCurdy who live in states without any legalization. I guess I should feel real lucky, I can carry up to 3 pounds of processed pot on me.

Man i scene u got off easy your lucky. I was in a non legal State when I was 18. I got arrested for one joint. Well it was probably about 2 grams it was three papers will together. I dropped it when I seen a flashlight from the cops. They charged me with tampering with evidence. gave me a 5 to 10 year prison sentance With a five-year felony diversion. First charge I ever got my life and I was only 18 years old and had two grams on me. Thankfully I was good during the 5 years and did not get locked up but any little screw-up could have put me in prison for a long time. So you got off easy. wish i was lucky

Wow, I'm stunned at the idea of getting 5 years of supervision with the threat of doing time in stir for just two joints. Good for you that you were able to handle the situation and get through it. The war on drugs is twisted.

Yes it's very crazy. Especially on a first offense when I was 18. I was just a stoner kid that they were trying to make a hardcore criminal by locking up in prison I guess. I actually served every bit of the five years on probation + 2 extra weeks because the day I was supposed to get off was right before Christmas break so they made me wait until after Christmas break. Never failed a drug test. Paid all my fines within the first month. And took my drug classes. All of this within the first year but they kept me on it for 5 fucking years. Once a month supervized. For the last 8 months they gave me a little break to where I came in every two months instead of every month. Definitely got some twisted laws out here

They got medical, I think its actually been revised since the launch. Was set up for no growing, all meds had to be out sourced from outta state... Think that has been changed since....

You must hire a lawyer. No discussion, hire a lawyer in the town where you got popped. Find soembody who specializes in this kind of thing. Yes, it'll cost. You'll either have to pay the courts or pay the lawyer or both. You're going to have to pay somebody.

If you're white, it'll likely be probation and a hefty fine as other have said. If you're black or latino, I'd bet you'll see jail time.

Hire a lawyer and see if you can plea bargain.
