mane brookies has this one. you loose lumens as you pull away from the plants, (i don't know the ratio but its steep) so the farther you pull your bulb up the weaker it is...

your in the big fight of growing, making everything balance.. good luck
the ratio is a geometric progression unfortunately: one foot away from light source is 50% usable lumens, 2 feet is 30%, 3 is 15%, ect... there are lumens that can be used at 7.5 feet but so few as to be growing under something like an incandescent bulb... that ratio is not exact, but close enough to count... that is why so many people use ducted and sealed light elements: so that they can run their light closer to the tops of the plants, also why the 4's and 6's are so popular (they are cooler than the 1ks by a lot and thus can be placed closer to the top of the canopy, as well as losing less lumens during growth)...

I just upgraded my light hoods and ventilation. All my lights are now hooded (only half before). I can put my hand right under the light for as long as I want np.

I am getting dual use of the energy now too, sorta. I have this gorgeous room on the back of my house overlooking back yard. It's an add on many years ago and has several heat sources. One of them is a register from the basement. I isolated that duct, capped it off where it went in furnace, and vent my lights to that. Added a booster fan a few feet from the room I am sending heat to. It doesn't quite heat the room by itself, but you can definitely feel heat coming out of that register. Took me two days lol.

Main thing is now I won't get hot and humid in there this summer. Last summer was bad.

Last summer was nothing but problems. I had to close up for a month, just couldn't get control of the temps. Me room will have AC and dehumid so all is good. I'm trying to get a generator in the case that we loose power. Last year we lost it for 3 or 4 days, really fucked things up

Yup same here. If/when I do get a genny it will be a whole-house job that runs on propane. I'll switch to propane for everything (only use it for cook stove and clothes dryer now) and install a big ass tank. My own tank, so I can buy propane from anybody.

ahhh money.. can't fill anything but our own, just to dangerous, who nows what bad shape that "other" propane tank could is?! yeah i had the same problem, I used to manage properties, and this fuel company said that to me, and i relized i had to call them right back for another property, which was "their tank" and that tank was the biggest piece of shit, they would come out and spray it white every two years to cover the rust.. fucking companies and their shady ways to force patronage.. :/

BUT!

tet, that propane geni is my next step too, just makes since. I mean if you lived through the ice storm, and i know ya did.. shit no power for 20-30 days?! you know what that would do to a fledgling caregiver business? whew.. at least its almost spring..

Yes, I know it's difficult. I have been researching the own-your-own propane tanks off and on for years. If you have a bill of sale for the tank/installation and it's new I don't think they could use that excuse for a few years anyway. What I have read is that they are wary of stepping on each others' toes too..sort of an unwritten agreement not to fill each others' tanks. But if you can prove you own it, it isn't a big deal. That is only what I've read though. Sounds like we have some real life examples on the board. When I get ready to do it I will call some specific dealers around and get their position on it.

it really all depends on what the guy running the fuel company around you will do. If you find 2 or 3 dudes that don't care as long as they aint stepping on someone elses contract then awesome. Personally, I had such an issue with it i wasn't even thinking about going my own tank route, although i would love to be as self sufficiant and un tied to one company as I can be.. Let us know what you find out.

Here is an update on gigi bud from g13. Pretty impressed with this pheno. Never grown any g13 gear so my opinion on the genetics are kinda biased. Im happy with it, have not seen foxtails like these before. I am sure that is a genetic thing, my question is this a desirable trait? Looks cool, but does it increase/decrease potency?

I will be cutting this plant in 2-5 days depending. Trichs now are all cloudy with about 10-15 % amber. Buds seem ripe and swollen, so I wont go past about 6 days.

Ill be back after chop with an update
