Curious thought about light cycles

Ok so we use 18/6 for veg and once we switch the cycle to 12/12 we induce flowering.

Now my question...If the light cycle stayed 18/6 for like 2 years, would the plant continue to grow and grow and grow or is there a internal mechanism that would eventually kill them?

Just thought about it and was like wow someone with a huge unused building could grow a plant over a few years, keep it properly trimmed up and all then switch light cycle and get like 30lbs per plant lol.

Thats what I figured.I saw the link on here for the monster plants that were grown indoors thought may be thats how it could have been done.
I know some strains can grow like 15 feet high and stuff. Most have just been a few years of selective breeding to make ultra high growth/high yield plants.

There are people on this forum who use extra-long veg periods to grow monster plants.

I see no reason you couldnt veg for years then flower a skunk tree, except its quicker and easier to grow smaller plants?

Well primo mothers are kept vegging for a long time for clones, I know there is only so many times that you can clone off the mother before you start getting lower quality yields or health issues occur, I saw one main stem (that was from a mother) that was the width of a beer bttle!!
