Critique my first grow eva!!!!

I got pretty damn interested in attempting a grow sometime around christmas after I purchased, on a whim, an aerogarden. I got a random bag seed to sprout and let it roll from there. I started reading these forums to learn what I could about the process and quickly realized that the aerogarden is shite and that the DWC was the easiest/most efficient way to go. So my plant outgrew the areogarden and I transplanted into a DWC with a 400 HPS light. Had the plant hiding out in the attic for a month or so but the heat just got to be a bit too much. Just moved it to a climate controlled area and here are some pics that I'm hoping for some advice on. I apologize for the poor quality of the pics but its the best I an do with a blackberry.

Questions for the experts:

What type of plant is this? Indica or Sativa or somewhere in between?

I'm about 3 weeks into flower- how does it look for a plant that far along?

I've got some random yellowish spotting and a good amount of leaves whose ends bend down. Its a more pronounced droop. I also have random leaves that are brown and shriveled. Not very common but its happening. Any ideas?

I've been using Humbolt nutes (that I'm giving more of by feel). I've also been using filtered water that comes out with a ph around 6. Two fans on the plant - 1 all day and the other when the light pops on to maintain the room temp.

I got pretty lucky with a female on my first grown.....any advice you have would be appreciated. Thanks!

OK- after reading quite a bit I think I may have two things going on. Possibly the beginning of a nute burn and also a magnesium deficiency. The plant also did go through a day of high heat (which prompted to move from the attic) which may have stressed the plant into displaying these symptoms. Instead of overreacting and adding more chemicals to the mix I decided just to add ph adjusted water to the reservoir and give it a day or two.

Today this is what I noticed- All of the fan leaves look normal but all the leaves on the buds (which are swelling) are curly and oily. They almost look like in a day or two they are going to all off. Is this normal? Anyone have any advice for me? Also- I'm about 3 1/2- 4 weeks into flower....how much worse is the smell going to get?

Thanks or your help!

I am a nube at this but based on my experience and reading this forum you "may" have some nute burn. You REALLY need to get a TDS meter off ebay and get more precise with your nute concentration. They are only like $20 or so and free shipping.

Looks like pretty "normal" growth for the time in 12/12 (better than mine did - with store-bought seeds). For a bag seed - I'd say it's looking great.

I really don't have enough experience to say how much sativa/indica but it is NOT sativa-dominant at least in the leaves. I'm not sure what mix mine is but it definitely has more skinny leaves than yours.

Thanks for the response. I definitely have some equipment I need to buy. I need to get a ph meter and a carbon scrubber as well. Starting to stink to high heaven.

So- after 3 days of much of the same...turning shriveling leaves I finally did a full flush today and will see what happens. I find it a bit bizarre- non of the fan leaves were affected in any way. They look extremely healthy/green. The plant has also grown an inch in the last two days. Hopefully the flush does the trick. I'll post some picks in a few days. If anyone has experienced this and has any advice let me know!

Went to the shop today and got some cal/mag, some ph down, and some ona. The meters are just sooo expensive. I'm going to try to do without for a while. Ph meter was 125 and the ppm was 75. Crazy!!! The plant is looking solid after the flush. I'm 4 weeks into flower and the plant is still growing! Had to adjust my lights again today. Is this normal? When will vertical growth stop?

Finally broke down and bought a ppm meter and a ph meter after yet another bout of nute burn. I've learned an absolute ton through trial and error on this one. My plant is now about 6 weeks into flower and has nice overall plant growth but a very very weak cola- I think its because it got heat damaged on multiple occasions. I still think I can get a decent output from the plant because it probably has 30-40 bud sites on it. Really long vegging helped.

Some of my lower branches are getting weighed down with swelling buds to the point where the branch is having trouble sustaining the weight. My quick fix was just to tie it to a higher/stronger branch with some wire. Any other better suggestions? I'll try to throw some pics up soon.

Also have a jack the ripper that just entered flower. Cross yo fingas for a female!!!

I did my first grow with bag seeds and cfls. I had a lot of temp problems with it being in a closet but despite sporadically high temps and bouts of nute burn I got a half oz per plant and I only vegged for three weeks and chopped early. You should do fine and get a decent yield. Good luck with the JTR!! I have a femmed sensi star and femmed magic bud a week into veg right now. +rep on the first grow

The JTR finally showed today. Female!!!! I'm 2 for 2 so far...I'll take it. The bagseed is about a week from harvest...its really filling out and the branches are starting to sag. I did a reservoir change today with very little nutes....doing a pseudo flush.

When I opened the reservoir I got swarmed by fungus gnats. Seems as though those little bastards started a little dwc colony. I gave both plants a peroxide bath and sprayed with bug gone. Hopefully that does the trick. I'll post some harvest pics shortly.

Nice looking plant! I finally harvested the bagseed. Not sure how much this will amount to- any guesses? I'm hoping for 2 Oz's but I bet it will be closer to 1.

I also found a couple of seeds when I was harvesting...so she must have gone hermie on me. I'm hoping its not widespread because I have the JTR in the same room flowering. What should I expect?
