Cree cob question ..... Is 100w / ft overkill ?

Basically the question is what the title states .... Would a 100w 3000k cob per square foot be detrimental to my plants or am i thinking too much into it ?

basically wanting to put 10 of them in 9 square feet .... I know they sell the little 400w fisheye's or what ever and they are right next to each other

I'm using 5 CXA3070 Z4 3000k at 1400 ma,that's 52 watts per COB in a 3x3 tent and pulling monster numbers.
the plants really like those whites ? I am still reading and trying to learn as much as possible .... but just from what ive read and seen pics of so far I AM for sure 100% sold on 3000k cree cobs

I don't think you can go wrong with CXA,CXB,Vero or Vero2's 3000k to 4000k and shoot for around 40% or more efficiency and 30 watts sq/ft. You can go up to 40 watts sq/ft depending on which COB you go with and it's efficiency but I'm happy with 30 and don't think I can get much more yield out of my set up by boosting the watts per sq/ft.

Think he's saying we don't really go by watts per sq foot, but that's just him being like a grammar-nazi. Watts per sq foot as long as the audience knows what model cob and what the OP is looking for is an okay tool to make it easier to digest in people's minds. So you keep doing you OP and don't worry:weed:

It's also an easy yardstick to use when comparing light sources, even if it's not super accurate.

I think you need to balance what people can easily understand with the technical side. You can't expect everyone to take a crash course in LED tech and plant photosynthesis just to buy a light for a small grow. I'm sure there are plenty of people that hear all the tech speak and think it's just too complicated and buy HPS,whether it fits their needs or not. If your a enthusiast or going to make a large investment you should get educated and learn all the right terms but it's not for everyone.

if everybody did this, nobody would argue that cobs/leds can't compete...my modest opinion.
i have been convinced and after seeing the prices for what one costs with the right led's in it ... I'm better off just building one :s any suggestions on a driver for like 500w of 50w cree's ?
