well got a nice DIY tent setup over the weekend. Just worrking on getting the temp regulated now.

I put the heater in the tent the first nite but with it being so small and my fans going i felt like it was going to get to dry. humidity was dropping below 40 as well. so i moved it outside the tent near the air intake and its keeping it aroun 77 which is fine with me. more worried about when it gets colder outside. i dont want this heater running all day but seems like basement is leveled out at 75 right now.

Plants are taking off now. Big one guy a flush due to overferts with this crap MG soil. i know never to use it again. Soil ph is a bit high right now but its still wet so im not gonna flush it again yet.

unfortunately due to space and lights i need to kill off 2 of the 5 to save some room for growth.

will post some pics tonite!

Everything seems to be going okay still. Growth is still abundant and its nice to see. some of the lower leaves are damaged from the MG. Its deff the time release ferts. Its spiking my soil ph to 7.0 in some areas but staying around 6.4. watered with some 6.25ph today to help get it down a bit. my fan and carbon scrubber filter should be here tomorrow to mount into my tent.

IMG_20141026_015315_399.jpg IMG_20141026_135647_111.jpg IMG_20141026_204826_271.jpg IMG_20141027_171810_731.jpg big one is on day 22 now. smaller ones are on day 20. Gonna veg until next week friday , so about 30days. Thatll be my day off and ill transplant to 3gal buckets and then switch to 12/12. Still only feeding with water as there are still signs of this crappy time release ferts. ppm run off was finally down to about 600ppms which was better than last times 1400ppm.

Does anyone thing i should wait a day before going to 12/12 when transplanting? will it be too much shock doing a trans during the day and then flipping to 12/12 that nite?

Space is starting to get limited in the tent. 4 plants in there now but if i replant to larger pots im gonna lose even more space. Id hate to kill any of them before even finding out who is female. May keep the 4 and see how it fills in. tent is 30x30x60. had to make it small enough to move around the house if needed. Finally got the temps to level out at about 75. Had the heater in the tent but it was just constantly running since my exhaust fan was pulling 400cfm. moved the heater outside the tent near the intake and its keeping basement at 75 and then 75 with heat off in tent, and when heat kicks on for a few itll rise to 80 whcih is okay with me.

think im going to order some of those light bulb flexible extenders to start movint the lights out wider for more coverage.

will post back soon! much love to those who have stopped by!

Looking great man even with some damaged leaves. I really hope you can find a way to keep all those plants to at least find out their sex, like you said that would be a huge waste.
I've never personally transplanted and gone straight into flower but it seems to me like it would just be an overall smoother start to flowering if you waited a week after the transplant for the roots to start growing again. On the other hand, either way there is going to be a delay of growth so it doesn't really matter much whether it happens in veg or flower, just a matter of preference and whatever works best for you and your plants really.

Thanks dude! Yeah looking at em now and their rate theyll prob need the transplant this weekend which works out nice since ill be off work. that way thatll give me a week to kick back and then move to flower since they are really bushing out now. the 4 colas actually have kinda came up nicely and met the middle cola so the canopy is really nice and even right now, hoping itll keep it like that. Topped plant is cruising along nicely. Glad my ventech fan and scrubber is coming in this week cause opening the door after work is a nice big wiff to greet me at the door lol.

All in all im happy so far with my first run. i now know to stay 100% away from MG. Its deff the time release ferts. After watering im around 6.4ph soil and finding some hotspots with 7.0. then as it dries out the salt build up is still raising the soil ph. but watering with 6.2 is helping right now.

the one on the fluval box is smaller and has been growing fairly slow but it seems like a whole diff type of plant. like sativ vs indica. diff leaf shapes and coloring. hes my best one so far with like 0 leaf damage.

Will post up again tomorrow and get my fan mounted in with the controller tomorrow nite. the 400cfm honeywell fan right now is pushing too much air. cant get the temps past 73 without a heater going outside the tent. oh well itll be fixed this weekend.

looking real good man. 30x30 with all those you will run out space real quick, LoL, nice problem to have though. i always wait a couple days after transplant to make sure everything is still good. now i try to use the pot im gonna leave it in. small cup to start, then final pot for the whole grow. good luck, i'll be following.

thanks for popping by CD! Ive read your thread beginning to end and it has been a huge guide/help for my first time.

everyone is looking good today. big one got watered tonite. seems like everyone is needing a water every other day now. Think i found a place locally with foxfarm soils so im gonna go saturday to try and grab some for the transplant. Then ill let em get used to the pots for a week and then flip the lights.

Big one is getting so many chutes now its so cool to see. im deff running out of room. tho i do have a good amount of space of depth still to play with. im ordering the light bulb extenders tomorrow since i cant find any local. Then ill change the lights to go more penetration all around and space everyone out.

my ventech 4" inline fan came today. pretty badass. cant beat the amazon open box deals! filter and controller tomorrow im hoping cause the big one is reallllly stinky now, which im hoping that means a girl!

much love! will check in tomorrow!

Well this is my first official grow. Just moved into the new place and got it all setup a few days later. Ive been lurkin RIU for a good while compiling information, knowledge and ideas to help with my first setup. I used to do alot of making waxes but deciding i want to try out some cultivating now.

This will just be a small closet CFL grow. Couple random bag seeds until i get one under my belt comfortably. Running 10 - 23w 5000k right now for vegging. Using MG soil ( i know tisk tisk... but my fulltime job gives me access to gardening products at little to no cost, so i am going to do all organic but retail store type products to try out my first one. MG Organic soil and then ill use some bone and blood meal for feedings, along with some fish emulsions.

Heres some pics below. Im very excited at the rate these things grow. Every time i pop my head into the room to check temps i can see a visual difference on each. My biggest/first guy is moving so fast. And oddly, he skipped his node with the 3 finger leaf. It sprouted a 5 leaf right after its first single blade.

6 Seeds. Random bag seed. Im going to top my 1st guy once the 3rd node comes in. 1 other one i tried fimming at the 2nd node last nite and seems to be taking it well. Im going to do different tests to each plant. topping vs fimming, possible lst. Watering only when the bucket weight and finger test tells me( im pretty good and judgement for watering from my fulltime job)

View attachment 3276045 day 2 of the big guy

View attachment 3276046 day 4

View attachment 3276047 day 5

View attachment 3276048 day 9 ( he skipped his 3 finger leaf node. its already sprouted a 5 finger leaf. hard to tell in pic but when looking at hte plant close up it deff has 5 )

View attachment 3276049 other 5 random seeds going

View attachment 3276050 day 9 of the group

View attachment 3276052 fimmed this little guy last nite as a test.

Think its time for a transplant tonite, just looked at the bottom of the cups and starts to see the roots slowly turning. everyone is slightly damp so should be perfect timing.

Will update soon! very excited everyone looks healthy and visually growing by the hours!

Hi this is my first grow too i am using cfl set up here is my blog..
Hi am new to this site and am now able to blog on my new grow set up everything in this blog is brand new the tent the lights. The plants are now 5 weeks old and are looking great i have 2 cream of the crop cash crop auto's feminized in one critical silver haze feminized and a new York diesel normal seed so am waiting for it to show sex...I have a twin lid cfl 300w duel spec on the plants which replaces a single lid 300w cfl i had previously that light did do a good job but am much happier with the twin lid set up see attached photos. i also have a 4 bar 4 foot T5 6500k light new from ebay. last night the ballast went 1 day into using and the seller on ebay is replacing it for me. so i lucked in 4 new tubes as he is replacing the whole unit free of charge...nice. i am new to the growing world but do have a friend who has been growing for some 6 yrs now and helps me loads and thee is you tube too...-) so take a look at my pics and tell me what you think of me plants and set up...

Well i just got home and popped open the tent to check on everyone since i knew the 3 small ones where gonna need water tonite. Everyone was bone dry. like driest ive ever left it. guess they sipped that last moisture hard while i worked today cause they were all decent this morning. The leaves have mad spotting near the top and these guys where stretching up hard and very close to the light.(within a inch ,but i have a fan on the light ) anyone think this is just light damage? few leaves up on top on my 2 tall ones are like this. my lower guy has no damage nor does big fatty plant.

thoughts?
IMG_20141030_202539_947.jpg IMG_20141030_202525_526_1.jpg IMG_20141030_202546_168.jpg

Just gave em all a real good watering. lets see how they act in few hours. none where really drooping over like they needed water but they deff where completely dry.

Heres a shot of big fattys leaf. is she finally telling me she wants some N now? lower first set of 5leaf are turning yellowish now. top growth is fairly light green.

IMG_20141030_202744_818.jpg the tiptip burn is from old overnute probs with MG soil. but i feel like maybe its saying it needs some food now? last nites watering ppm run off was 330ppm at first ending around 480ppm. ( fucking POS time release fert in MG ) last week i battled probs with 1100ppm soil which cause some slight burns but gave a flush. my single blade leafs are dead but its okay. i feel like at its stage now its prolly needing some more ppms by now? upper growths is fine with very minimal nute burn.

heres the family. my tall guys are forcing me to move the lights up and im trying not to, too much on big fatty cause i like her bushed until i flip next week.

IMG_20141030_203312_710.jpg IMG_20141030_203336_420.jpg

This guy is super fav! this must be like a indica vs sativa. my 3 bigs are all tall fast growing and diff leaf shape then this guy. hes lower, slower and a slight bit darker with some more sharp leaves. any ideas? dont know my strains at all. ( these are all bag seed with most coming from the same bag ) VVVV

Welp all my goodies finally came! Gotta Love Amazon! Open box LIKENEW ventech inline 40$, Ventech Filter $35 , ventech fan controller 17$. shipped everything was only $100! thats a steal in my eyes!
IMG_20141031_180605_479.jpg

time to rig it up tomorrow on my weekend off!

Everyone is doing mehh.. the 2 small plants have even more damage now to their leaves. very badly. super gold, dried and curling now. After decent amount of reading it seems like possible Mag Def due to ph rising and roots locking out.

Last nite the Big One didnt have any problems with it when i watered the others, came home today to find Big One spotting now too. Im hoping its not something spreading, but i feel its not because my 1 last plant has no problems at all.

Getting slightly worried. Hoping i can make a save on the big one. I watered everyone with 1tsp epsom salt/gal. So we'll see how that helps over the next 12hrs. :(

IMG_20141031_175322_463.jpg the lone ranger that has had no problems the whole ride!

IMG_20141031_175502_252.jpg damage is getting pretty bad on my mid fan leaves.

IMG_20141031_175912_877.jpg Big One is getting fat still! Hoping i can save it!

IMG_20141031_180114_557.jpg IMG_20141031_180123_976.jpg Big Ones spotting going on on top new growth :(

will post back tonite when i get back from the party i gota run.

I just ordered a 100 CFM booster fan and a 200 CFM carbon filter from the Zon tonight. I've been reading quite a bit about filters and fans. From what I've studied here the fan should under power the filter for the system to function at an optimal range. That's awesome you purchased a fan controller. Shit I overlooked that part. I think I have got the right setup but if I need one I always have Lowes. Most everyone here says overpower the CFM on the filter, I hope this holds true. Anyhow, awesome looking plants! As I was going through your thread, I was kinda on the fence about the over feeding issue. I've used Miracle Gro many times with little or no problems. I think possibly this may be a Cal/Mag issue. This is just a thought, however. You're grow and setup look amazing. I'll leave you with some pictures of my setup. This is a Northern Light Automatic that was supposed to be done today but I think she has a little filling out to do.

Peace and good luck.

Sherman420

P.S. Can't wait to check out your vent/odor control system.

Great setup dude! ive seen your thread and i love that way you made the light system to raise and lower. very clean build!

Yeah from what ive read and knowing CFMs you dont want the fan to pull more than the filter cause the filter is just restrictive at that point. cant pull past teh 200cfm so why have a fan working hard. so this 190 fan with the 210 filter should work great. Deff glad i got the speed controller because at regular power that thing pulls WAY to much for my tent.

Making a run out this afternoon to local Farm n Fleet since they are only local place around with Fox Farm soils. Im getting away from this MG crap fast. It has been nuthing but problems with overfert issues and now this spotting that im getting worried about since it spread to the Big One :( Hoping to save at least that one cause there are so many damn bud sites already and i dont even know if its a girl yet...

will post back later today with some more pics after i install the exhaust system!

Well my issue still persists, its really looking like calcium deff. And of course... all the hydro stores around are close today... wouldnt business be better on a weekend when people are off?

So no way to get some botanicare ca+mg today. Gonna have to run out fast before work tomorrow morning due to these stores crappy hours.

Gonna Transplant everyone to larger buckets today and hope they survive. Gonna do a watering with some molasses today as ive heard that contains some calcium that may be able to help/hold me over for another 24hrs.

Hey Brother,

Awsome job on your exhaust system. Love it, love it! I cant wait for my stuff to arrive. I bought N.L. bean's because everyone maintained that they carry a very neutral scent during flower, not my little gal, she's a stinker. I guess that the air exchange in my box is so powerful that nothing but a carbon filter will do the trick. Anyhow, hope you get your Cal/Mag soon, your plants look awesome, keep up the good work!

Peace,

Thanks guys! Im raelly happy how the exhaust turned out. Being that we are renting the home, i made everything with the tent in mind that if i had to tear it down in 5 minutes i could. So thats why its zipties and ducktape. My roommate does aquariums for work so we have abundance of water, RO unit, and stuff so nothing really looks suspicious here, but just incase they needed to come in i need to be able to do a fast tear down along with odor control.

I actually bought grandma molasses a few weeks ago so im glad youve used the same with good results as ive seen.

Just transplanted everyone to their final pots. I hit up farm and fleet yesterday to find they did have ocean forest and happy frog Fox Farm soils. So im glad somewhere within 10misn of me has it now. I optd for ocean forest since i see alot talking about that blend. Funny thing is i went to buy 3 bags, when i was looking at my reciept after i left i got charged for only 2! awesome! I was wondering why it wasnt over 20$ for 3 of em. Win for me!

the BigOne is in its final 3 gal. in fox farm soil.
Lone Ranger i decided to put into a 3gal in fox farm as well since its the only one with zero problems, i want it to have max space to fill out

last 2 got moved to 1.5gals as they arent doing great at all. they got regular MG Organic mix ( no nutes aside for small traces of blood and bonemeal which is okay with me )

I think i may have gotten everything to stop from spreading with the epsom dosage last nite but well see. Everyone got a half n half of regular water and molasses water during transplant. Will check em in like 5 hours before i pass out to see how everyones reacting.

thanks for stoppin by yal!

Mine must have the same smelly phenotype or its just one big conspiracy about NL being low odor.

@crawlintbss your babies are going to love going into that fox farms, hopefully your in the clear with any nutrient problems from here on out

Thanks Bryleetch!

everyone is looking okay so far. really hoping i got it to stop for now. the 2 small ones have lost alot of the lower large fan leaves. just dried and dead. but if i lose those 2 it wont ruin me. i want the Bigone and long ranger the most.

Gonna try and get some cal/mag wednesday. They dont open til an hour before i work tomorrow and its a good 45min drive. So hopefully everyone sits okay for a few more days.

well im thinking i got the spotting to stop. not 100% sure. took some more pictures to compare tomorrow morning. if anything it looks like the spots are jsut browning and dying out now. dont believe any more new signs anywhere or on new leaves.

Everyone has taken to the transplant well. 2 small ones grew another inch already. Biggy has grown another inch and sucking up water FAST. and its in a 3gal now. Im hoping if its drinking this quick that, that is a good sign. I think im going to plant tie the 4 side shoots coming out to the side of the pot a bit to give em a bit more light and space to go up. It deff needs food tho now. the lowest set of fans is really yellowing. QUESTION : if its yellowing from the tip first and then down teh leaf slowly ... is that N or mag? Doesnt really have green veins in between tho like usual mag pics i see. Im thinking it wants nitro .

Think im going to pickup some Bontanicare gro, bloom and calmag wednesday morning before work and then give everyone a dose before i leave for the day. and being that i wanna flip to 12/12 at the end of the week i need to get some N in Biggy before its too late, tho i know from reading to carry N it a bit into flower for awhile then slowly shift over to P.

Will post up some pics later when i open the tent. Getting antsy to start this 12/12 since the smallies are forcing me to the push the light up. I still ahve like 2 ft to play with so i tihnk ill be okay.
