Cops robbed me WTF

I just got robbed. I was driving sober, had a lot of weed sealed in a bag in my car just sitting there. Well within my legal weight limits. I seen a lot on the news that they have gotten rid of improper transportation laws. Cops tell me it has to be in a lock box. I told them they changed the law and no longer have improper transportation. Cop didn't believe me and it was simple as that. I kept my cool, they acted nice. Anyone know the best MI lawyers who could handle this? I just want my weed back is all. I normally never have a problem with police but I literally feel like I been robbed. I don't even want to police to get in trouble, they probably are 10 years behind on law and don't know any better. Although if they are crooked fucks that just want to steal my shit so they can smoke it, then I say lawsuit and lock em up.

UPDATE

Did some more extensive searching on the MI gov website. Basically Section 750.474 was repealed by House Bill 4606. This bill passed both the house, senate and is now in effect.

750.474 says you need it in a lock box.
House bill 4606 repeals 750.474

If anyone is interested in what happens I'll keep some updates. I'm no lawyer btw. Just know where to look up the law.

I suspect about all you can do is find out if it was ever turned into evidence custody, and file a report if it wasn't. You likely won't get it back, but if they went home and had a party with it you can at least make them sweat out an internal affairs inquiry.

Did they charge you with anything? Or they just took your weed? If it's the later, you probably just got jacked.

If you got a warning citation or something proving it happened..you might be able to just go down there and get it..doubtful haha. Srry man, sucks.

It is unfortunate, however IMO not unexpected, that LEOs make spot decisions, such as this.
Were you rights violated? Quite possibly, nay, most likely.... Your meds have been unjustly confiscated. I'm guessing there is no record of the situation whatsoever.

As a caregiver, when I transport ANY amount, of ANY medicine related material, it is secured in a locked toolbox, EVERY TIME..... Regardless of what the statute says, I know, that if it cannot be seen without my consent, it will not be SEEN.
When police have to ask for consent to search, they don't have cause, end of story....They will NEVER be given consent to view the contents of my box, under any circumstance. Zero chance.
Police are trained to manipulate the situational emotions of "suspected" wrongdoers, and they are very good at it.
If the point is reached, that they feel they have reached the level of "probable cause" , so be it.

Most would be surprised, at how quickly the Cops will leave you alone, and send you on your way, simply by asserting you rights in a polite and direct manner, EARLY on, during an encounter.....

Well, as long as you are white and wealthy. Because if you aren't, they will use your refusal to find PC in your demeaner. You shifted in your seat too much. You wouldn't look me in the eyes. You seemed nervous. I smelled a chemical smell. Your eyes were too dialated or not dialated enough. blah, blah, blah.

They recently arrested a black man for being too compliant during a traffic stop.

But, what you said is still important. Don't give up your rights. Be polite. Be non-combative. Obey commands. You will have grounds to have the charges tossed if you don't consent and their PC was weak.

Just don't believe that standing up for your rights works the same for all people or all ages.

The ability to us the undocumentable "smell of marijuana" as "felony probable cause" has bastardized our rule of law and corrupted our "justice system". The fact that 30+ years of the Cops TV show and the new series like Live PD literally could not be possible without it tells an unquestionable story. Our historic levels of imprisonment and prison culture bleeding into our popular culture tell yet another ...

In Mass, cops can no longer use the smell of cannabis as cause to conduct a search.

I take it COPS and Live PD will no longer be taping there LoL

Yet sadly here in Michigan not even your MMMA rights, LARA license and medical marijuana card will protect your home and family from being violently raided and all of your assets being seized (People v Brown)

I don't think I've ever seen a single episode based in mass. Drugs inc did a segment here, but I haven't seen any from cops. I've never seen live pd.

Live PD records/follows 6 departments from around the country live on Friday and Saturday evenings. Nothing like watching a perp getting chased through your yard as you watch on TV :-o
