Controlling Temperature

Im not getting the results Im aiming for. Im reading that the temperature plays a big role in your final product.

I have a vac chamber, and understand that under a vacuum all of the temperatures needed for purging drop drastically.

My next run Im hoping to never exceed 115 F, and only vacuum without heat.

My only question is.........
When blasting through the column into the collection dish, most people do this into hot water. I bring my water to a boil and then let it cool for almost 5 minutes. Is the water of the temperature too high? Im having a hard time getting good temperature readings at this step.

Im looking to achieve "spongebob" "honeycomb" wax. I keep getting dark amber shatter or taffy.

I just use warm tap water from the faucet.

Keeping your heat low is essential. Our water bath skillet on low is 200F degrees (way too high!) I'll let the water warm for a minute turn it off and then test the heat with my IR thermometer. I don't even let it go over body temp really. Around 80-90 degrees is perfect! At that temp you can even see chunks of fatty waxes and all that good stuff. IR thermometers are great tools! I'd be lost without mine! But keeping my temps low has always gave me great results at makin some killer cookies!

I get spongebob @ 115-130F degrees, after like a few hours of vacuuming
Hey joe, how do you keep a steady heat of 115-130 when u vacuum? I have my vac chamber sitting on a seedling mat with a small heater. I can normally get things pretty well dialed in but for me this is not ideal. Any suggestions?

whip that shit.... from the time that you first get the "skin" on your initial boil off. then purge , then whip, let it stabilize. sounds like your temperature is solid so you need to get air pockets into that amber glass then extract them under vac

terpene break down that and your just whipping more air bubbles into it...

you whip if you do not have a vacuum chamber, he does have a vac chamber no reason for him to whip it.

I agree with Twitch, No whipping.

However, a tiny bit of agitation, in the form of folding the oil on itself into a patty will assist in nucleation of the oil.
Once you see a nucleation point (a cloudy spot), you know you're on your way.

Spongebob himself...

Just keep vaccing and vaccing and vaccing.
