Abstract
Conservatism and cognitive ability are negatively correlated. The evidence is based on 1254 community college students and 1600 foreign students seeking entry to United States' universities. At the individual level of analysis, conservatism scores correlate negatively with SAT, Vocabulary, and Analogy test scores. At the national level of analysis, conservatism scores correlate negatively with measures of education (e.g., gross enrollment at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels) and performance on mathematics and reading assessments from the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) project. They also correlate with components of the Failed States Index and several other measures of economic and political development of nations. Conservatism scores have higher correlations with economic and political measures than estimated IQ scores.

Abstract
Despite their important implications for interpersonal behaviors and relations, cognitive abilities have been largely ignored as explanations of prejudice. We proposed and tested mediation models in which lower cognitive ability predicts greater prejudice, an effect mediated through the endorsement of right-wing ideologies (social conservatism, right-wing authoritarianism) and low levels of contact with out-groups. In an analysis of two large-scale, nationally representative United Kingdom data sets (N = 15,874), we found that lower general intelligence (g) in childhood predicts greater racism in adulthood, and this effect was largely mediated via conservative ideology. A secondary analysis of a U.S. data set confirmed a predictive effect of poor abstract-reasoning skills on antihomosexual prejudice, a relation partially mediated by both authoritarianism and low levels of intergroup contact. All analyses controlled for education and socioeconomic status. Our results suggest that cognitive abilities play a critical, albeit underappreciated, role in prejudice. Consequently, we recommend a heightened focus on cognitive ability in research on prejudice and a better integration of cognitive ability into prejudice models.
Here are two peer reviewed scientific studies which negatively correlate cognitive ability with conservatism, racism and right wing ideology.

I was shocked to see an article in a journal which claims to be scientific and peer reviewed quoting Ayn Rand as if she did not utterly despise libertarians. So I looked into this journal, the slogan I found was "publish first, judge later". Both of your links reference the same "study".

Plos one is a fucking joke.

It was the only rag willing to publish this crap.

And this is the guy you quote having the proof that 97% of Scientists agree that AGW is real.

About Skeptical Science
This site was created by John Cook. I'm not a climatologist or a scientist but a self employed cartoonist and web programmer by trade. I did a Physics degree at the University of Queensland and while I achieved First Class Honours and could've continued onto a PhD, I instead quit academia and became a professional scrawler. Too much doodling in lectures, I think. Nevertheless, I've pursued a keen interest in science and if anything, found my curiosity about how the world works increased once I wasn't forced to study for impending exams.

My interest in global warming began when I drew a cartoon spoof of the TV show 24 that wondered what Jack Bauer would do if Al Gore was President and global warming was the "threat du jour". I watched An Inconvenient Truth for research which I found thought provoking although I didn't know what to make of all the science.http://web.archive.org/web/20080213042858/http://www.skepticalscience.com/page.php?p=3

Now, who's the stupid one?

You are. That's been on display in the majority of your posts. That's why you are trying to derail this thread, because you got nothing.
What a fucking clown, all this time you been touting how 97% of scientists agree on AGW, you had no clue that the source you've been relying on wasn't even a scientist, he's a cartoon illustrator. .

People are educated by those who have never stepped foot off the school campus. They have a lot of (usually liberal) theories that hold well in the classroom but when you take them into the streets they fall apart. So, of course more people who are educated will be versed in liberal theories and policies. As soon as they learn that the professor spouting all their liberal ideas is a moron, the better off they will be.

Funny. I keep hearing about ivory tower refugees in college, but I never met any. All of my professors had extensive real world experience they brought back to the classroom with them. Even the liberals, since their peers tend to be smarter, they had to justify their political views more than the others- like 'campus conservatives'-who were simply given a script and told to believe it.

The Koch brothers have recently restyled their corporate centric political activism as 'libertarian'. Did that make THEM any smarter?

I thought not.
No of course not. I thought people would get my point but maybe too subtle. I posted bullshit studies to combat other bullshit studies. I bet if I tried I could find some conservative sociologists that published a paper saying conservatives were more intelligent. Any study done with suggestive variables relies on the person giving the study to interpret. As humans we have bias whether we admit it or not. Our bias is involved in our interpretations.
