cone sexing

i have a plant that i'm growing and i want to know it's sex.. i've taken a clone from this plant and it's been in water for about 3 days... i was going to use this to sex the main plant.. will it work if i put it in a cardboard box for 2 days of total darknessor longer.. or would it die... i wasn't intending on having the clone live any ways.. it was just to reveal the sex of the main plant.. what else could i do? (i don't have a place to put it under 12/12 so darkness is the only option

2 days of darkness will not tell you anything. It can take 2-3 weeks of flowering to sex some plants. you will have to take your clone (assuming that it's rooted) and put it under 12/12 lighting until it shows you it's sex, it will probably be about a week.

will i have to wait until it roots? becayse it's 3 days in water now... can't i just put it under now?

...yes you need to wait till it roots...it cant grow without roots, it will take longer than 3 day to root, takes up to 2-3 weeks for some strains.

You really cant rush it. It wont work and will be a waste of time. Also you dont Have to flower to sex plants, usually after about 6 weeks under ideal lighting for veg they will show sex with preflowers.

I suggest doing some research, use google, thats what its for, all these questions could have been answered with about 5 min on google.
