did you guys know michigan has an open holster law. you can carry any time you want, just dont tuck it in your shit.dont have one in the chamber. the only thing a ccw does is let you have it loaded in the car or when buying a gun you dont have to get a purchase permit.
Yes, Michigan has Open Carry, as I do all the time. However, you can have "one in the chamber", you can't have it holstered riding in an enclosed vehicle though, ammo and handgun must be in separate compartments away from the driver. Believe it or not, rifles are included in this.
PuffnTuff, Michigan has what's called the "Castle Doctrine". Basically it's a "no retreat" law. Meaning, if you come on my property to commit harm to me or mine, I do not have to retreat and can use necessary force to protect myself. Look it up, it's good stuff! Another thing, you're absolutely correct when you say it's "You're responsibility to protect you and yours from harm". The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that Police do not have a Constitutional duty to protect you. Remember this, when seconds count, police are only minutes away!
I'm hoping that soon there will be clarity offered to MMJ cardholders in regards to obtaining a CPL (Concealed Pistol License) without discrimination.

"Just to be clear also I was being whole hearted when mentioning the threads you have been in."
Well, thank you. I appreciate the clarification.
"I feel as if the green mile is to in your face for non marijuana users and eventually I think non users will see it as a bad problem"

We certainly hope so. It is a problem. There is a big problem that has nothing to do with medical marijuana, patients, or personal gain. Despite the real issue in contention in America, the medical marijuana boom is a stepping stone. Regardless of "state rights" the dispensaries are enemies of war. The loud message that businesses are portraying regardless of intention, is a key element in success in that industry and a means of political out reach. If controversy stays in the public's face, something will be done. The more faces on the cannabis side of things, the more likely the public is to view it as "obviously not as bad as I was told, by my government". Sure, it may be very unappreciated by those who don't want to have anything to do with the controversy but that's EVERYONE'S problem that the feds made sure you were a part of regardless of your desires. Before long, it will be everyone involved and change will happen...Forget thinking we the people will allow digression of our already established rights. Not one state has taken back the peoples rights to medical marijuana and our country was founded on the idea that we should be free....

This guy got to keep his cpl. Here's what one of the gun board members had to say and the link to the article.

http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2011/06/lawyers_guns_and_money_a_day_i.html

Weiss’s case would normally be a run-of-the-mill suspension for the board. Then the medical marijuana issue came to light and behooved the board to take a stand.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Swanson voted yes. Michigan State Police Sgt. Jeff Bauermeister voted no, based on advice from MSP’s legal council.

With their split vote, the decision on whether Weiss’s license should be reinstated was left up to Cassady.

Cassady told Weiss he’s checked with the U.S. Attorney’s office, which assures him they have no intention of prosecuting against CCW holders violating federal law by following the medical marijuana law Michigan voters passed in 2008.

“So based upon that, since you’re in compliance with state law ... it’s the position of the prosecutor to vote yes,” Cassady said.

Weiss breathed a sigh of relief. He didn’t expect things to work out in his favor.
“I was a little caught off-guard by your decision,” he said. “So thank you.”

They can pry my gun from my dead hands. Good luck with that. The only thing a person will see if my gun comes out is the flash of my muzzel and a last breath.

Fuck them.I will carry and have my meds if I want to. Fuck them. The letter that came with my card didn't mention CPL so it doesn't exist in the law. Simple as that.
